Is this normal to have little white fuzzy balls, very thick white color.
I also see some Myc clouds but with all the research I have done I have never seen white balls. PLEASE explain this to me
BTW this is my first LC
I am a newb and looking for advise from you experts out there. It looks like little fuzzy balls, you tell me.
LC: Karo 4% solution Knocked up five days ago (Monday) with 1cc of Burma
See the white balls floating on the surface of the solution?

See the white balls floating on the bottom?

You'll only know if that's contamination when you try the liquid. Meanwhile, there might be several explanations for what happened. It mostly depends on the sterilization process, but karo might aggregate or clump together and crystallize in tiny balls depending on eat dispersion and fluctuation when sterilizing. Therefore the mycelium will grow on those balls first, showing what you have now.

Give them a good swirl everyday. Usually I have only a few balls and they look more fluffy than yours (that sounds wrong;)). When it comes time to use it inject some into a shot glass and smell it, before you waste it on good substrate.
I think it will be ok though

Thanks a lot for the replies, I am now seeing small clouds of MYC (as normal LC growth) and a few balls. I will post pics asap.
BTW, do you think it is safe to incubate them with my other PF jars (I am a sterile freak and for some reason I believe I should make an incubator just for my LC's so I won't risk any contam's by opening the unit everyday to shake/swirl my jars) which are all at a constant 83F?

Sadly I don't have a good feeling about these. It has been exactly one week today and in one of these jars the balls have multiplied to over 100 balls.
I know I am a newb, yet I don't see this to be proper growth. I am still going to experiment to see what is going on and learn from my mistake, here are some updated pics.
Even after shaking it like crazy, these balls still hold their shape and do not break at all.

Yea that's not normal, and I don't think that would go over real well being inoculated into jars, I wish I had some magic spell that would fix it but man...I say call it a learning experience and try again. If I was to venture an idea, I'd say something in sterilization! (well thinking...that's pretty obvious) Take care

Has anyone else ever had this happen before?
I plan on trashing all except for one and inoc just to see what happen.
Yes, a learning experience indeed.

I have seen tiny balls somewhat like that in an LC. They were clumps of sporesed. But, a day after germination - they converted to threads of myc. Never saw any stay solid.

Has your camera a macro setting (usually a little flower), this is for close ups. Your pics are very big and should be resized, not only for people viewing but it means you can store more yourself, you have a limited amount of file space for pics that you can upload.
If your camera has no macro (or even if it does) it is best to take the photo from a greater distance and then just crop it (cut out just the bit you want from a large photo) this will reduce your picture size and give you better focus.

ME<<<<< LAZY, but you get the point in the photos. And yes , your correct, I was using MACRO. I am going to do as you suggest when posting updates using Adobe PS and see how it turns out.
Honestly, I did not even think about editing the pic
