There is a difference between indefinitely and a static 2 or 3 week ban for repeat offenders of moderate offenses. This is what the policy SHOULD be.

He is neither the first nor probably the last person who pushed it this far. Some people just don't seem to know when to stop. And as long this is the case, there will be poeple who will get permabanned and there will be poeple who are going to complain about it.

no offense taken but realize that those that dont like me or the job I'm doing are
almost all people that fear that they'll be banned, the same people that are

With all due respect, scapegoating people an antiquated practice. If you want respect, then you ought to give out respect, and treat people fairly and equally. If you ban some people for certain transgressions, and not others, then you would be no different than most of the American police. (This was a valid arugment presented earlier, and I didn't see a good response to this, although I would love to be proved wrong, so please do correct me if you did/do treat others with the same treatment you gave hanky).

well, maybe you should go through some of the thread, you'll learn that I view
respect as something earned, I do give people respect it's one of my top
priorities here and in real life, if I'm cutting up and offend someone, I
apologuise and make it a point not to do it again, there is no scape goating

unfortunately it's not entirely valid, I am lax in the enforcement of most
rules in OTD, certain things are guaranteed to get an instant ban others
will get you a warning either in the forum in the form of a "stop that"
and other warnings go out as a PM, I try and maintain consistancy in
the actions I take, I could care less if some one is a friend or not, if
you are a friend and commit some of these violations than I view it
a little harsher than someone that is not, a friend would have the consideration
not to put me into the postition to have to take some action against them

try telling that to the trols that reside in OTD, some enjoy a wide range of
problem causing like posting personal info and photos of other in the forum,
posting shock pics that they know are a violation of the rules, ganging up
on the less popular members or those that they feel just dont belong there
some people see what I do as being heavy handed and when compared to the
absentee mods and those that are willing to let virtualy any thing go, I am
but there has to be a point in which shit needs to stop, if I'm not the one
that is stopping it, no one will be.
