interested/interesting

A good quote..... "be interested, not interesting"....

I think our culture places "being interesting" higher than "being interested"....

dont read those books when you can be on American Idol!

The average person can probably name every contestant on the current american idol and have no idea who alan greenspan is, or Neils Bohr.

This is just screwed up.....

Interesting....  I guess it depends on who or what you find interesting....

I don't know who any of them are, but I am gonna~ guess you are interested in Alan Greenspan and/or Neils Bohr, and you like books....(?)  :smirk:

I was going to make some snide remake about how I couldn't imagine anybody not knowing who Alan Greenspan and/or Neils Bohr are... but I have already been proven wrong... what ever happened to basic education? *sigh*

*our society*

strange, I know way more people who read books than indulge in idol fantasies...like...20-1 ratio.

Over all in american society, people don't read like they used to. This is probably an understatement. :mushroom2:

Do forums such as this one count as reading? Does instant messaging? Does text messaging?

I tell myself reading these forums is considered "reading".

But sometimes I am not sure if that is true, or I am just self-justifying my obsessive computer use.
