spore print viability?

a friend gave me some spore prints well over a year ago, possibly closer to 2 years ago..how long do prints stay viable? i scraped them directly into sterlized substrate jars, but am unsure as to whether or not i should keep them since i don't know how long spore prints will last. i could easily go out and find more shrooms to print but i really dont want to bother with it now if i can get these going.

A print will last quite a while longer than 1-2 years if stored properly. I'd use a syringe next time when planting spores. Make the syringe and allow the spores 24hrs to hydrate. A hydrated spore will take off a whole lot better.

Spore prints last almost indefinitely. 10 years or more if kept cool and dry. I'm not sure on temps in the range you mentioned, but am interested in what effect (if any) they would have on the life of a spore print.

As Hotnutz said, you should rehydrate spores of that age. Long as they are kept dry and relatively cool, I don't see why a spore print couldn't last 10+ years easily.

Also less chance on contams. With scraping spores direct in the jars you have high chance of airborne contams. If not done in glovebox or flowhood. Also like the people say, spores will be better hydrated with using a syringe. And a better spread of teh spores. But hey they germinate fine on agar also, directly from a print.
