 How do I Rip individual JPEG/GIF Clips from an MPEG or AVI

Does anybody know how to do this? I have some movies that in which I want to strip individual frames from an AVI or MPEG, export them as JPEGS---then I can screw around withem in PHOTOSHOP or create an animated GIF. IS there a program I download to do such a thing? Please help, thanks psilly

movie maker that comes with windows xp works. crappy pics, small, but does the ticket.
obviously theres better, but this one is at least already there if you got xp (maybe other windows too?)

Ya I got XP but can always go with something better if you say the clips extracted are garbage. Its just a download away-----kazaa/emule/bearshare.

oh that doesn't work.
the only software that I know of that will allow you to take cinematic stills is "DIRECT DVD" made by orion studios: www.orionstudios.com

VirtualDub is a great program for this.
The printscreen thing doesn't always work, it depends on what codec the movie uses.

Use BS player. It's a great standalone player, and you can take screens from any clip just by pressing "p". Use the options to customise the quality, and where the pics are saved to.
