Theres a guy who just recently wrote a guide for florida mushrooms. I have never seen any other books like this... He is a professor at UCF: let me know if any gets this book soon. I will order it when I get a chance. Peace out.
---------------- from web google---------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Common Mushrooms of Florida by James Kimbrough -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences has just published a new book, Common Mushrooms of Florida , by UF extension mycologist of 35 years, Dr. James Kimbrough. Dr. Kimbrough's research has appeared in over 250 publications. This book contains descriptions and color photos of 268 Florida mushrooms, as well as identifying features and habitat information. Some 50 of the mushrooms endemic to Florida were described, but not illustrated or photographed, by Dr. W.A. Murrill in the early 1920's. They are pictured here for the first time in print.
Common Mushrooms of Florida is available from the IFAS-Extension Bookstore for $19.95 plus shipping by calling 1-800-226-1764. -------------------------

Are you talking about Dr. Kimbrough? Because he teaches at UF, not UCF (Go Gators). I have his book that was necessary for the class, but I think you're talking about a new book, so that would rule this one out. Anyways, I actually had the opportunity of taking a class with Dr. Kimbrough last semester (Molds, Mushrooms, Mildews, and the Man). It was a really informative class, but the lectures were kind of boring (very scientific lectures, he didn't really put any of the info into terms that the average student could understand haha).

Sorry for the mistake. I have seen good classes at college and have seen many more boring ones. Hopefully the new book sheds light on florida's mycoflora because I have been wanting to find something like this since day 3.
Peace--

On the subject, I was actually driving around Publix parking lot looking for a space to go grocery shopping and I saw Dr. Kimbrough walking out...I told him that my friend and I were going to attempt to grow "edible" mushrooms and he said to e-mail him if I had any questions. Kimbrough is definitely a shroom god.

I have actually taken a basic level Fungi couse that Kimbrough teaches at UF. You can find out more about him here: http://www.angelfire.com/wizard/kimbrough/ . He definatly knows his stuff and has been around longer than many of us combined.

http://ifasbooks.ifas.ufl.edu/p-196-common-florida-mushrooms.aspx
and with that god awful Comic Sans MS font, no less.
I wonder why someone is selling one (or something by a similar name with Kimbrough's authorship) on Amazon for $210?? (http://www.amazon.com/Common-Florida-mushrooms-James-Kimbrough/dp/B00069BG5I) A different book, perhaps?
