Okay...
First you need to get to this point:
Then, arrange your rye cakes on a layer of WET perlite or vermiculite or
coir/verm as shown: (right is coir/verm, left is perlite)
 
Then cover the cakes with coir/verm:
 
Mist the casings heavily every 24-36 hours (even AFTER pins appear) and keep
the environment at 68 to 78 degrees F. with a relative humidity of 90-97%.
I use H2O2 generously in my misting bottle and both humidifiers.
After 14 days in the right conditions, you should be looking at this:

I imagine it would, yes, but rye is faster, easier and produces better shrooms.

I will be doing my first rye the same way. What about sterilizing or pasturizing the casing (verm/coir)?
I don't have a pc, but I'm tryin to figure out what will get me past contams in my casing layer.?.

Nope, str8 from the jars.
There's no real advantage to soaking colonized rye berries.

Yes, there will be quite the trip report... The 8 grams gdman ate was not consumed in one dose, we did 3 doses over a period of 9 hours.
We ate over an ounce of shrooms that night!
