I was addicted to this book but his picture is different for anyother stuntzii I have ever found the stuntzii i found on mushroomjohn.com were a different colored cap then the one in the book the one in Paul Stamets book was a darker colored gray getting lighter to the out side the one on the websites that I have found wer tan to lighter on the outside. please tell me which one is correct.

Both are correct. Color can very a lot within a given species of mushroom. Factors are genetics, environmental conditions, and age of the mushroom.

There are many color variations int he species of stuntzii (blue ringers, along with P. fimetaria).
In about a week there will be a beautiful full page images of the lawn Stuntzii's with all new improved and large images after clicking the thumbnail. I am currently working on the stuntziis this week. It involves rewriting the script for the HTML and it takes about a day for100 or more images to be scanned, resized, compressed, then make thumbnails and then the script and then send the images with cute FTP. But the images in their large size are worth it.
Here is an example of a small grouping of Psilocybe stuntzii in a lawn in the U-District.

Last Fall

Ande stuntzii and fimetaria sometimes will grow all year long under the right conditions. Well manicured lawn, constant lawn service, fertilizers, etc.

They are both known locally as blue ringers. The p. fimetaria grows in manure in the fall and can also appear in lawns and woodchips, the same for P. stuntzii. The P. fimetaria have a definatle nipple or protrude and the edges of the cap drop straight down as in P. baeocystis.

Images are at my site. or will be there soon.
