 sclerotia cultivation

hi guys
I want to try to grow some sclerotia and i can get some fresh sclerotia from the Psilocybe mexicana strain.
If i would cut the the sclerotia in half and get the inner tissue
and put it on agar or some liquid like Karo or honey water would it grow ? so i could inoculate a jar with sterilized grass seed.

theoretically, yes, though hardly ideal.
better to tear rather than cut, for a sterile piece.

That's how I finally got a decent fruiting strain of mex a. I noticed one stone on agar was fruiting. I took that stone, broke it in half, then cut a small section out and placed on agar. It grew out and fruits like crazy.

Just dip a small sclerotia into peroxide solution, or better yet a very mild bleach solution. Then just put the sclerotia(whole) onto some nutrient agar. It will get fuzzy, and begin to grow out onto the agar.
You don't have to get inside the sclerotia.
