Goodbye Blue Sky

Did you see the frightened ones? Did you hear the falling bombs? Did you ever wonder why we had to run for shelter when the Promise of a brave new world unfurled beneath a clear blue Sky?
Did you see the frightened ones? Did you hear the falling bombs? The flames are all gone, but the pain lingers on.
Goodbye, blue sky Goodbye, blue sky. Goodbye. Goodbye. Goodbye.

pink floyd is my absolute favorite classic rock band. i think they are one of the top 3 rock legends of all time. kinda like elvis. even though i dont care for elvis' music.

In no order:
Elvis The Beatles Jimi Hendrix
are IMO the top 3 rock legends if you were to take a poll. I can't stand Elvis, and the Beatles are pretty good and Hendrix depends on my state of mind/consciousness .

i would think that pink floyd is more popular then jimi hendrix. i wasnt talking about what music i like. just the legends. i think beatles, elvis, and pink floyd are the top three. can anyone convince me otherwise?

Anyone/Any band you think could be called the top rock legend ever. Maybe Zeppelin would be up there too (in the top 5 probably, doubt they'd be in the top 3). But Pink Floyd doesn't appeal a lot of people, it's too heady or psychadelic. Sure they have some classic songs, but nothing that a ton of people can relate to or are inspired by and Floyd didn't revolution rock music or anything like Elvis, the Beatles and Hendrix.

Letto, Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon holds the #1 spot for the longest best selling album of all time! No one else has accomplished that. So I would re-think the statement that they don't appeal to a lot of people!! IMO this is the all time greatest band. I'm not the only one!!!!

Yes, I know that DSOTM record. When I say they don't appeal to a ton of people, I mean the majority of their music (take anything prior to DSOTM or after the Wall, so what's that... like 4 albums that have commercial appeal?) is too heady or just too experimental for a casual listener. And just because many people think they are the all time great band doesn't make them rock legends by itself. Yes, they are a great band and are rock legends, but can't compare to Elvis or the Beatles. I own many PF records, but they simply have not made anywhere near as much impact on rock and roll and music in general as those bands I mentioned earlier.

I hear what you're sayin'. Personally I'm not an Elvis fan. But ,as he did change the way people thought of music in them days, his music won't stand the test of time that groups like the Beatles and Pink Floyd. As far as the Beatles go, they were in the right place at the right time. Someone else would have taken their place if there were no Beatles. Pink Floyd was a cult band and didn't care about he fame. They were just there with a solid following. The Beatles were made, so to speak. A "POP" band that turned into a psycadelic band later.....

That's one of my favorite Floyd songs, the acoustic is just awesome. Great song for tripping also.
