 When talking about dosages, do you use grams or oz? And what's the correlation?

Forgive my stupidity, but I've noticed most of the members here use grams. Where I'm from (eastern USA) everyone uses ounces; one-eighth, etc.
How does this translate into grams?

okay.

28.47 grams is an ounce.
1/8 is 28.47 divided into 8. then the same for a half and so on. a quarter being 4th's.
i don't think you need to worry about pounds at this point....

Ok. Thanks for the info. I used the calculator on Google but didn't think it could be that simple.
So an eighth would translate to about 3.3 grams or so.

Easy breakdown:
16oz in a lb.
28 g's in an Oz.
1/8th= 3.5g
1/4th=7g
1/2=14g
That should do it.

It blows my mind that people don't know this basic info.
I didn't even learn this stuff while dealing with drugs. I learned it in 8th grade. And basic fractions in 2nd grade.

You'd be surprised (or maybe not) how many times I've heard "Well an 1/8th is three grams, but what is it an eight of?" 
Or, "Wait, so there's 16 ounces in a pound, so how many pounds in a kilo?"
These are the kinds of people that DON'T need drugs..

i used to live in the east coast, and it is true, they never go by grams. even some dealers didn't know what a gram was. some sacks would be a true 20, some more, and hardly any less. they kinda eyeballed it i think. i once asked a dealer for 3grams, and he looked confused, till i said.. an 8th. but that was just where i lived on the east coast.

I got a lot better at fractions once I started buying and selling bud. Once my sophomore year, my algebra teacher handed me this beaker and asked me how much it weighed (I was supposed to say X, because you don't know how much it weighed) but I said "Over an ounce, maybe an ounce and a quarter". He was shocked that I had answered like that. He still told me I was wrong though cause the answer he was looking for was X. We weighed it a little later, and it weighed 1oz 11g.
And the stoner excels in mathematics.

How about an easy converter!
go to google and put "Convert 1 oz to grams" in the search bar. It will give you the answer.
It works with almost any measurment including grains
"1 grain = 0.06479891 gram"

Lol, man i feel ya. I live in your same area. Most of the p[eople i deal with know all about grams, 8th, quarters, etc. similar story about chemistry, we were asked to weigh a sample of a rock, and give it in grams. I was talkin to the teacher and sed that it felt like an 8th, kinna embaressing but she doesnt know shit about drugs so..
bud has been the reason i know the metric system, lol
