Oh ya aircraft carriers can't do much can they, except carry massive amounts of supplies and launch and land aircraft. Hmmmm what in your opinion should be sent over there? let me see what other ships can carry such massive amounts of shit that would help victims? uh ya nothing.
Also with the money thing most of this so called "money that we don't have" is being fed back into our own country, so essentially we are helping ourselves.

So you use poverty as the level of destruction that taxation can wreak among the wealthy as a guideline for when to stop it? The simple fact that people are having their money disproportionately taken from them, let alone the fact that it's theft, is wrong. I don't want to "save" someone else via force, if I choose to do it, I'll do it myself.
The very premise of taxation for "social" programs is faulty. Inherent in the concept is the belief that the majority of taxpayers don't want their money to go for X, Y or Z, so it must be taken from them. If the government is using force to make people do things that the majority of them don't want to do then the government is wrong.

How much did you personally donate to help the tsunami victims, silversoul?
It would be hard for him to determine how much of the money that is stolen from him went directly to that cause.
