How can I Avoid/Treat Razor bumps?

I usually get them on my neck after a good shave.
Here's an idea of my shaving process:
- I shave once a week at most. - Before I shave, I enter a hot steem room to get my pores opened. - I shave with a Mach 3 turbo. - I use Nivea shaving gel for sensitive skin (contains chamomile and vit. E - I shave with the grain first, then against it. - I rub honey on my face and neck afterwards and go into a sauna so it can 'sink into' my skin to mosturize it.
Overall, my face has very little bumps, however my neck is the main problem. Consiquently Its becomming a drag shaving when the results are razor bumps.
Any advice for treatment of the bumps or avoidence of causing the bumps?

Don't be scared by the whole "bikini line" thing. Its just lidocane cream and it works pretty well.

don't shave directly against the grain for starters. shave like sideways of the grain and use lukewarm water, because hotter water contributes to razor burn and hair bumps. i get them when i use too hot water.peace

I used to have lots of problems with razor burn. Make sure and wash real good first with a good face soap (one made specifically for shaving). Use hot water and lather up real good. I also use a shave lotion rather than the cream, or put the cream on after the lotion. My shave lotion is Nivea and I have the same Nivea cream you use. I use the Mach 3 also. After shaving I splash on some Nivea aftershave stuff. It's not really scented (I can't stand scented aftershave). I hardly ever have problems anymore. Oh, and I also shave both ways (with and against the grain). I have thick hair and so I have to.

Gotta change the temperture on the water, and avoid shaving against the grain but to the side of the grain instead. peace
Supernova: Thanks for the face-cleaning advice.

You need to shave everyday and use a razor for women. Shave your neck in the shower and your face in the sink when you get out But shaving everyday is a bitch at first but once your skin and you get into the habit then it is no problems any more
I had your same problem when I was young. But when I did as above all gone.

AHHH fucknuckle. I tried using my girlfriends razor, which is suppose to be the best there is for women, and it tore the shit out of my neck. MACH III is best.
I didn't shave this am but I did look at my products and thought about this thread. I was mistaken about my products. I use Nivea Double Action face wash prior to shaving. Then I use Neutrogena Shave Lotion on my skin with Aveeno Shave Cream over that. Then I use Neutrogena Aftershave astringent. Since I started this routine, no bumps, very few nicks, and no "razor burn".

I use an electric razor
and never get bumps and the shave is as smooth
as you can get with an average razor.
quick (4 mins tops)
no need for cream and aftershave and all that crap.

I have bought 2 electric razors in my time and I could never get a good shave with one. I just never understood how they can get a good shave unless your willing to stand there for 30 min.
Not saying it doesn't work for you

i have really think and curly facial hair...Mediterranean blood.....I have tried so many things. This is the best for me. Get in hot shower and do shaving last with no cream, lotion or soap. Just the natural oil on the skin. Don't wash face before...only after shaving in the shower. Also using mach III turbo of DiamondFX disposables.

I don't know if you'd want to put this on your face, but Bikini Zone works wonders to settle down sensitive areas.

Your problem might be you only shave once a week.Your skin will probably get used to it, once your facial hair grows in faster and thicker and you shave every day. I wish I only had to shave once a week but razor bumps do suck.

I used to get those on my bikini line till I bought an exfoliating sponge. Works really well.
