Shroomery Radio is the coolest shroomery idea ever..
Here are the instructions.
First download this great and free Mp3 encoder
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/cdexos/cdex_151.exe?download
Then extract a few Cds that you can share and wont get the Shroomery in trouble with copywrights. You know youve got em..
Then PM Vampire99 and get yourself a user/pass for the FTP site.
Then download an FTP client. I use THIS ONE Its called Leech FTP and it works great.
Then you just got to upload your music.. The more music the better.
Any technical questions on these programs just PM me and Ill do my best to help...

We are in the process of acquiring limited licensing for nearly all copyrighted musical reproductions (not including many live performances unless the band in question has given a copyright waver to live recordings, for example: the Grateful Dead). Thus, barring permitted live recordings, this licensing requires that the copy you will be streaming is legitimate and not in violation of the copyright law itself! So don't go putting up all your ineligeable mp3 rips, only use CDs you actually own and ensure that they are labled in the following format: [TRACK ARTIST] - [TRACK TITLE]
Should be exciting to see how this all plays out

I only read through the general licensing info once, so I'm by no means an expert on it - but my impressions were that what you are proposing is fine, as long as that FTP is kept private for use only by Shroomery Radio and does not allow publicly downloadable copies of any submitted music.

blinkidiot: I don't think there is a 'preferred bitrate' ... 128kbps should do just fine. We will be signing up for dual bandwidth broadcasting, so the ultimate user-end bitrates will likely be a 128 kbps stream and a 56 kbps stream. Vamp is the one who is in charge of directing this project.. so address all specifics to him please
