 Pretty Yellow Mushroom and a Fuzzy Starfish.

Winter is definitely setting in here in Ohio but I went for a walk today anyway just to see if any shrooms were about. I found these:
The caps are about 1 cm in diameter.
The stems are solid, flexible, and fibrous.
Growing on hardwood log.
Spore print: White.
I think these are Cyptotrama chrysopeplum = Xerulina chrysopepla.
I also found this little guy.
This thing is only about 1/2 a cm wide. I haven't got the first clue what it might be.
When I find mushrooms which I can not identify I often wounder if I'm holding the cure for cancer in my hand. Maybe I should find somebody with cancer and start testing these things.
