I put this on my desktop and ive been staring at it for a half hour now. Amazing detail and texture.
I'm curious as to what exactly code based refers to. What programs were used to create it?

I fuckin' love the ether birth one.
The first is good... excellent use of texture and shading, but it's a little too unfocused for me. The ether birth one has a nice obvious balance of focal point and background, which I think compliments your texture and color talents well.

Nope. Everything is done procedurally in photoshop. The thing we use most often is blur and clouds.
