A possible mutant?

Had a large amazonian on a PF cake that when starting to seperate from the veil, ended up with spores all over the TOP of the cap. Looked like it was almost black. The spores brushed off with a moist paper towel, but it was bizarre to see spores coating the top of the cap. Should have taken a pic, but you get the picture.
What causes this? there were no other mushrooms that could have possible deposited spores there. It was like it pumped out spores on the cap instead of the gills. Weird. A mutant, perhaps?

Nope. No breeze. This was in a fully sealed rubbermaid. perhaps heat might have caused a current inside the chamber, but the spores weren't anywhere else but on the cap. Not even on the stem below the gills. And this was with the veil completely torn off mind you.
Hmmm.

Some spores migrate through the tissue(the cap), and some of that is from the updraft of warm air, especially if you have a PMP. There is always a circulation in any fluid system at room temp. It might be small, but there is.

Spores weigh so little they're virtually immune to gravity's treacherous grasp. :P
It happens a lot. In the meantime, print that sucker!

There are natural slight air currents within your terrium from gasses and temperature differences in the air. Its not enough for you to feel but its enough to put spores on the cap..it will happen everytime if you let them sit long enough..
