 What language should I take?

I'm registering for the spring semester and have to take a language. I can choose from:
Spanish
French
Russian
German
Japanese
Latin
I don't particularly want to take any of them, but if you had to choose, which one would you pick?

Spanish is pretty easy and well constructed. Useful too if you live in the southwest and increasingly even if you don't. French might get you shot by neocons. Russian and German are excellent for cursing at people in. Japanese is hard, but not as hard as Chinese and Latin is fucking boring and difficult and tedious.
Choose Klingon.

Spanish is the most practical, it opens alot of the world up for travel!

i would say take spanish, i took japanese and i dont really remember anything they taught me lol

Spanish would probably be easiest...I don't know. I always thought the Spanish language was sort of boring. Everyone knows a bit of Spanish.

If your in the U.S. the ability to speak spanish will help with alot with jobs...

you don't have american sign laungage? all my friends tell me take that class if you just want to pass the launguage requirements for a degree but if i were you i'd take spanish because all the cool places to go speak spanish like signo said, and if they don't speak spanish then at least half of the people will speak english (parts of europe ect.)

im taking spanish next semester. i took spanish 1 in high school.... 3 times. I might study a little more this time around.
i'd vote for spanish.

I took 4 years of French and Spanish at the same time, and in college i took 2 semesters of Japanese, now im trying to learn Chinese for my girlfriend (who is chinese) I would suggest Japanese out of that list because its a lot more fun, a little harder than spanish or french, but way mroe practical, especially if youre a video game nerd like me :P

Japanese or Latin.
But what end purpose are you taking the language? If it's just to finish a class take Spanish as it's probably the easiest.
If you plan on a medical field or possibly a legal field choose Latin.
For upper level business ( not seeling lawnmowers and cow movers ) choose Japanese.
Just for fun Latin is the coolest language to learn and Japanese is probably the hardest language to learn.

German is a fun language, Japanese would be interesting, Latin would be my choice.

If you do any traveling in the south I've found that Spanish is a wonderful thing to know. Japanese is fun, because it sounds cool and no one will ever understand what you're saying
I took latin, and not only did I learn a TON more about English, but it's very useful in deciphering large words you don't know, or with any science (I dig botany, mycology and biology, very useful!). Latin is similar to Spanish, so don't take both or you'll get confused! Another bonus is that you can talk to people in Latin, but they can never ask you to 'speak some latin' for them like the other languages, because it's a dead language! Another bonus is you can read old manuscripts in the original language, which is really cool |
