80g Oatmeal 20g Agar 10g Dextrose 1000 ml Water
1) Is it best with or without the dextrose?
2) Is it better if adding 2g yeast and/or peptone?

ive never tried an oatmeal agar a potatoe dextrose agar is easy to make
filter the broth from boiling 300grams of sliced potatoes in i litter of water for an hour
add 10 grams dextrose sugar 2 grams yeast 20 grams agar water to 1000 ml
I think you would want to avoid having solids floating around in the agar

I know PDYA, I just wondered if oatmeal agar is best with or without dextrose, and if it is good to add yeast and/or peptone. Anyone else?

You could add dextrose to the brew if you like, but I wouldn't push it. Adding too much sugars will cause the mycelium to grow thick, but slow. It is a good idea to add yeast and peptone, as it adds some more nutrients to promote healthy growth...

The oatmeal recipes in FastFred's Media Cookbook do not use peptone or dextrose at all ...
Edit: Also Una's oatmeal recipe does not use dextrose and peptone.

For a liter of agar I would add 1 gram of peptone and 2 grams of nutritional yeast. There are recipes that have yeast and peptone, and those without. This does not mean that yeast or peptone cannot (or should not) be added as a supplement. It does indeed promote healthy growth...

I have not run any direct comparisons between the different medias (the common ones that is). OMYA has performed fine for me the very few times I have used it. It has done the job, and done it seemingly just as well as MYPA. I suggest you grind the oatmeal up in a mortar and pestle or coffee grinder and do not strain it from the brew...
Other than that, it is just like PDA in regards to the fact that it requires more preparation than I would like to perform (boil it a bit to soften the oatmeal and extract the goodies, then PC as normal). MEA and its supplemented cousins are so much easier for the lazy person like me...
