Psilocybe cubensis PF-Tek in Poor Man's Pod
    #3291032 - 10/28/04 07:18 PM (4 years, 1 month ago)

10/29/04
Bought everything for the my PMP today. Set it up. . planning on making 12 cakes, PF Tek style, super strain first, then i have some B+ for my second coming. PC'ed my 1/2 pinters.. hopefully my spores come tomorrow. for some inoculation action.

I think my container is a little small... remove hydroton or what?

10/30/04
Spores showed up today so I followed the PF TEK (max fruit formula) exactly for my first five jars, 1cc per jar.. Got them incubating in my PMP wraped up in a electric blanket
11/1/04
A little more liberal with the messures on the PF TEK.. 5 more jars Inoculated, 1 cc's a jar still.. somehow ended up with a bit more then 2 cc's left. Since my first PMP was too small i went out and bought 2 more rubbermades. One the same size as the original, and one taller. Made a tub in tub with the shorter ones. Couldn't find opaque tubs so had to line with aluminum foil... whatever works.

the tub and tub incubator and the new PMP.

11/3/04
Inoculated the last 2 jars. Went with just a bit more verm and a bit more BRF as in the last 5.. plan on a small casing for these 2. About 1.5 CC's per.. i guess i was a bit shy of 1 cc per jar on the others... still no signs of contams. Each batch marked A,B,C for each batch...

11/5/04
Did my daily contam check and found growth in one jar of the first batch... i still don't see any contams yet... but maybe i'm just blind

11/6/04
Growth in some more jars.. about 5 of 12 now. I think i forgot to shake the syigine between inoc's with the first batch (yup.. i'm a noob)... as only one of them show little white spots now...(but they are getting nice and big) 4 of the second batch now showing life.... seems to be the drier jars.. so next time.. 55cc and 50cc's of water instead of 60... to see if i'm right. been reading into straw bulk grows with the double tubs and i am quite intreguied, but its much too cold in my house for such a thing now.. unless i did some sort of tub in tub. (but that doesn't seem like it would work with the filters and all.. but maybe.. or maybe just wait till spring.

11/7/04
Welp welp... 5 of 5 with the second batch of jars, batch b.. only that 1 jar from batch a showing any life at all. The two from batch C are on day five and i expect them too show tomorrow or the day after... I'm really hoping that not shaking the syringe with the first batch didn't screw 4 of those jars over completely.. but odds are it did (at least.. everything else that old has showed life now) But still no signs of contams..

jar from a with life (the most of any jar)

Jar from batch B with most life

11/9/04
One of the third batch finally took... 6 days and hardly noticable.. but i see my little white spot forming... 3 of the jars doing very well... maybe 30-40% of the surface.. 2 of them are doing okay... all the damn pics came out blury cause i fucked with the flash... i guess yall can wait :o

11/12/04
Couple of the jars getting real close. I made some Karo on the 9th.. started showing some life today.. can't really take a pic.. here's the jars. First jar from first batch, 2nd from 2nd batch.

11/28/04
Welp.. this KSSS seems to be a real slow grower i guess. I got one jars that is now 100% done, been waiting 1 day since that happened, then 1 more should be done tomorrow, those two will be my first birthings. I plan to dunk and roll wed. So here's my sucess with the first 12 jars i made. Batch A. out of batch A 2 showed life, one is nearly done colonizing and the other took about 3 weeks to show anything. so 2/5 there. Second batch, all of them showed life, the two that are nearly done are both from this batch (i forgot to shake the syringe on the first) Then there is group c, which is two jars, both of which show life, after prolonged times, one is almost done colonizing, one is barely started (to dense of cakes) so overall... 10/12 on my first grow. I also made some liquid as said earlier and inoculated 9 jars with it... all of them showed life, one of them only at one point. Saddly i got some nasty black shit on 11/26 and lost 3 jars too it. They're in another room attempting to fight it off. One looks like it might have a chance.. but i think i'll toss them all even if they do win.

Best Two jars from Batch B ... first signs of life 11/6

Jar from Batch C, First sign of life 11/9

And some Karo shot up 11/22 with liquid B+

its hard to get the contrast on that liquid myc man.. there's much more in there.. just not so visable.

12/2/04
Set two cakes into a dunk last night. Both from batch B. Rolled them in verm today. Set them in the PMP. Before birthing one of the jars i attempted to make some liquid with it.. Sucked up what i could after injecting karo.. then injected that into the jar i got the karo from to begin with.. we'll see.. 5 more jars will be birthed next monday if i'm seeing things right. (well.. two are done on the outside today, two or three more tomorrow or the next day)

and here they are rolled and in the PMP (73 seems like a good temp.)

12/12 First pins showed up.. thursday or so. Picked the first guy. Didn't want him to fuck up the eveness. Then i couldn't do anything cause in came a clump, so here is where my two first birthed cakes are at.

12/13
All is well in town. my pmp will be full wed. the joys. here's the first fruits of my labors. not quite ready for harvest yet.

other cake

12/15
Last night i harvested about 30 grams from my first cake. I plan on picking this next cake tomorrow, giving some of the small mushies a litle more time to mature, and i'll probably pick the monster tonight, so it don't start rotting or something on me.

the harvest first harvest 30gs

the soon to be harvest

12/16
Final harvest for this growlog. Here's the shots. This cakes harvest was 70.4.. much higher then the 30 on the other cake. thats what i get for waiting a day. And this is the big shroom off that cake. 27.4g

The estimated death toll on Iraqi civilians is anywhere from 80,000 to 1.5 million (most sources lean toward the higher end)  That means, in our occupation of Iraq roughly 200,000 people have been killed a per annum.  The Hussein regime is estimated to have killed around 300,000 people in the 23 years he was in power.  Who was worse for the country?

Hello there,

I am gathering my stuff too now to build me a tub-in-tub incubator and a PMP.
Just ordered tank heaters, airpumps, hoses and airstones. Already bought some RF and 2 tubs. Tomorrow will be getting my second hand PC and hopefully Geolite, Vermiculite, Cocos coir and a hydrometer. And the box for the PMP!

I bought a jar today I will test it 2morrow if it can resist the PC!

How many inches of geolite are those, how high is your pump?

Good luck mate!

MF

I was gonna say it was too small till you said 8"'s of clearance(pics can be deceiving I know) 8"'s should be enough for cake shrooms

if they were to hit the lid would this cause damage? or would they just bend funny?

prolly just bend...if the lid is wet tho it could possibly cause rot but I have never been in this situation so I can't say for sure...now that I think about it tho I have had shrooms touching the sides and they never rotted so should be fine(rot isn't the end of the world anyways you can cut it off)

You only need 2" of growrocks, you could make two bins, or one 2x bigger with that much rocks. Also it gives you more vertical space for monster fruits.

yeah man you have to much grow rocks plus with the way your setup is your not going to have to worry about clearance above the cakes to much cause all your light is coming in from the sides which means the mushrooms will grow towards the sides
