 spores dropping on harvested mushroom

I am trying to get spores off of some mushrooms {p.cyanecens}. My question is how long can you wait after picking to get a spore print? A few days?

put that shit on a piece of tin foil for 24hours in a steril jar!then take it off the piece of foil to see a nice spore print!

How easy are the spores to see? i put a couple in jars (last night) to drop spores.. it is sort of foggy in there now (caps were still moist when placed).. Should I just leave them longer?? I was planing on just removing the mushroom caps and then just pouring 3/4 cup sterilized water in and shaking up once the pours were dropped.. That way I can just have a hole in the top kept covered and just pull spores with a syringe when needed..is this ok to do?

thats exactly what your supposed to do........put the top of the shroom in a sterile glass for 24hrs then take it out.you should see a spore print there now,then take some purified water and put it in the jar with the lid on and shake the buddy up.take your surange and suck the water up through the inoculation holes and wammo got ur self some spores.make sure everything is sterile including the syrange.

I still don't really see any sort of "print", how easy should you be able to see it? Should i just add the water and try and use it..?

You will be able to see it. You need to pick it as soon as the veil tears.

Here's something else you want to try. Locate the cap you want to print. Pick the 1 that's hasn't broken veil, yet. Mist over it so cap becomes a little wet. When the veil breaks, wait 12-16 hours. Keep misting over it lightly. Get your print when the gills turn dark.
