Review:
This is a mostly instrumental album, however, the haunting tunes it plays are unique and stand on their own. It plays heavy on scratching, voice warping, and draws from many different instruments and styles. The craftsmanship and care put into the design of these tracks is truly exceptional and very welcome in the midst of all the mindless cookie cutter pop music put forth today. The music is quite minimalistic, while keeping enough depth to hold your attention. Excellent chill, work, and sleep music.
The first track "Hello Poptartz" eases you into the album with a sleepy child like innocence, something that you can feel underlying the tracks throughout the album. You can tell that he had a Lot of fun making it. On "Carnivores Unite" you can feel the power of the song surging through the beat, as though a mission is to be accomplished. It jumps right into it, snapping you left and right with a thick back beat.. then suddenly stops.. and slowly slides you back into it with a new richer beat woven in, I love how he did this. The guitar work through out the song is perfectly matched to the style, although I never would have imagined it fitting the track, it flows sublimely. The Triptych songs are some of the most minimalistic songs on the album, however, not the lightest. They carry powerful moods within them, which flow from one to another very well. These songs are truly perfect for leaning back, closing your eyes, and just drifting into the music. Almost all the tracks on this album are excellent, I won't provide descriptions of them all, though. Just give it a listen.
One complaint, if you can call it that, is that there may be a bit of a listening curve involved for some. The style Blockhead uses in these songs is not very common, and takes a little listening to get used to.. The first time I heard the album, I didn't particularly like it. After a few listens, however, it started to grow on me, and now, I cannot imagine my record collection without it.
I give it 9/10 stars.

This is the first review I've ever really written of an album, and I'm aware how amateurish it is.. but I'd truly appreciate feedback, so that my future reviews and recommendations are better crafted.

Yup! Hes from New York.
He does produce a lot of music for various artists, including a lot of the beats found on aesop rock's bazooka tooth album. Hes colaborated with boards of canada, and just generally made some kick ass music.
