Steve Vai

He's an amazing guitarist. Yes, he is fast, but he is an amazing composer and uses his skills very well. Stupendous playing ability, everyone should check him out. :heartpump:

He's been around for quite awhile. I've seen him in concert a few times too, he's definitely very passionate about music. Kind of reminds of bjork in the sense that he's very experimental with his albums.

He puts on an amazing show, this i'll agree with. His style doesnt rub me the right way most often tho. I saw him @ G3 a few years back and got my guitar signed by him, satch, gilbert, and petrucci....now that was bomb

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.---senior doobie

He has a totally unique sense of tonality. Yeah, that doesn't mean much, but there's no other way to say it.

There is a difference between a writer and a composer. I love Steve Vai but he is not a composer. He writes guitar pieces, he doesnt compose anything. Very nice rock though.

Steve Vai is obviously an excellent guitar player but personally i prefer Malmsteen's choice of notes, much more melodic to MY ears

My favorite Steve Vai song is "Fuck Yourself" I think Frank Zappa back's him up.

My favorite Malmsteen quote " You have unleashed the Fuckn Fury!!" --I am trying to find the article, but this was when he blew up on a airline assistant about a year ago..--

roffles.

Yngwie is without a doubt, a complete jackass.

Regardless of what you think of his playing and writing ability.

No doubt Malmsteen is more pleasant at times, since he follows classical scales so closely, but for me, that's one of the reasons he isn't as fun for me to listen to.

I like a little oddness in my music. And by a little, I mean a lot.

I can understand that, Malmsteen does tend to strict adherence of Phrygian, dimininished and harmonic scales. Truthfully i haven't really listened to his last 2 albums as from what i did hear he's just being musically redundant. But if oddness is your thing you must really love steve vai
