 Need help qutting.

No this isn't about drugs. It's about work. I said I was sick a couple days last week, then skipped a couple days and finally realised that I abhor my job and it's ruining whatever life I have left so I've decided to quit. I phoned in tonight and told them I'm quitting and asked if they need it in writing and the answer was yes.
So the question is, what exactly do I write? I've never quit a job before and I don't know what I write. Do I just go get a peice of paper, write "I quit" and sign it? Or what.

they dont need it in writing, thier just bieng dicks, cause they want to hold on to you for as long as possible, but yea, just put something like
this letter is to inform you that i am ending my employment at <company>.
sign and date....
P.S... you guys suck 
something like that.. your not the ceo of a damn company or anything, you dont need to publish any newspaper article about it, they just want something.

Simply quit
this isnt a career path job right?
there is no reason to put it in writing...just tell them to mail your last paycheck..
they cannot by law hold your paycheck, require you to come in to get it..etc.. If they do call your local Labor board

what type of job is this?
you already are noted for missing days, etc. Why do you need to give them written notice...if this isn't a career path job then the only reason I can think they want the letter is so if you claimed unemployment they would have PROOF you quit of your own accord...unemployment usually gets paid unless the employer has proof that the employee(former) willingly left his/her job...A letter would be perfect. I make my employees who quit(if the come in and tell me) sighn a letter of resignation just for that purpose

Most real jobs require a two week written notice for you to quit. So what you need to do is write a formal business letter (like we learned to do in high school, remember?) saying that as of (put today's date) you are giving a two week notice of your termination of this job (whatever your position is). As of (two weeks from now's date) you will no longer be an employee of (the company). Sign your name above your typed name. No need to be mean to them about it just cuz you're quitting. Put all your contact info at the top, as well as the date, followed by their contact info, just like a professional letter.

I agree with agr8fulchick. Someday you are going to probably want a job that doesn't suck. That usually requires that you show the person that you want to hire you that YOU don't suck. That, in turn, requires that you leave your former jobs on good terms so you can use them as references. If you want better jobs in the future, you need to build a track record of being a reliable, productive employee.
But if you don't give a shit about getting better jobs, just write "I quit" on the front door with paint. And post a picture.
