Hey shroomers,

I found a mushroom of the Big Orange variety!~

Got two pics, check um out
I.D. help would be much appreciated..

Found along a river bank on a steep incline.
Sand, dirt and leaves was what it grew from.

Mushrooms are becomeing increaseingly difficult to come by with the dry weather we've had here.. so, this was an exciting find for me.

hmmm, what did the gills look like man? usually when i see a stout stemmed, big orange mushroom around here it is a bollette, not a mushroom.
im sure you already know the difference but then you live in FLA and im in NS so the species are obviously different.
and chances are i cant help you on that ID even so.
but i do know that what you got there looks like alot of things and it needs more description. :)
happy cube huntin :)

Here is a gill shot

Notice the milk dripping from stem.

I went to pop the cap off the stem after taking this picture and the thing just popped right off and into the stream. So, no spore print.

Good times right there.

What's up, GG? At first, I thought Gymnopilus species! Then, after the second post, mentioning milk and such, I figure Lactarius species. Anyway, the picture is cool! I can see you're looking further than the pasture. Find some Ps. caerulipes for us, will ya?
Stay cool!-Levi7.

Hey GG,
Nice pic. It does look kinda like a gymno. species, but since it has the white juice, I'd say it's a Lactarius species also.I'm just guessing of course.
This dry weather does suck doesn't it.Mushrooms of any kind are scarce around here also.

Hey doo,

Can you see the second picture with the gills showing, cause I cant on my screen.. I know this is not a psychoactive shroom so

Anyhow, man i just need a few good dried doses of Wild-picked cubes (or even copes) and I should be set for a-long-enough. Im hoping I will be able to collect plenty (or even more than enough) in just one or two days of hunting, or only 3-4 hours this year.
I sure wouldnt mind stumbleing across a few big clusters of P.caeurelscens on the river banks..

The second pic didn't come up on my computer either.
I don't think you'll have any trouble finding the cubes or copes, once the weathers suitable down your way. You seem to have a gift for finding them.
If you find some P.caeurelscens or even P.caerulipes make sure you take some photos of them babies.
You still finding any of the "casters"?

Your starting to sound like me GG, a few doses a year is all you need. The caerulescens would really be a nice score this year! If they are anything like weilii you'd love 'em. You need to come up and pick a few doses this year when season rolls around.

Let us know whn them cubensis are up and abundant, and I'll pack my bags and head that way, I'm itchin for some magic pickin :)
