 Headphones: use headphone setting or 2 speaker setting?

With 2 speakers I get absolutely no hiss, with headphone settings I get hiss, so whats the advantage of using headphone settings with headphones other than knowing it was intended for headphones?..

If your sound card has a '3D Stereo Enhancement' or 'Simulated Surround' setting which is enabled, then using the right setting can improve the effect. Otherwise there's no difference AFAIK.

those 2 settings that you mentioned, would they give directional improvements in a game?, and what about music?
i got an audigy card so I support all the good standard stuff, but the headphone settings have a hiss plus they sound alot more muffled than the 2 speaker setting, thx again

are they cheap headphones???
i dont really understand what those windows speaker settings do.
Probably just some kind of sound field "enhancement". (i think MS should focus more on improving their products, than providing sound enhancement features).

nope, not cheap headphones, I dont know if it would make sense to ask that cuz I said I get the hiss when using the headphone setting, the other settings such as the 2 speaker mode dont produce a hiss
I tried muting all options for playback and recording in an attempt to solve the hissing, but no matter what I do I get the hiss, I got the latest drivers for everything so no problem there
