Just remember kids, no one has been formally charged for not registing since 1986. With the hundreds of thousands of others who do not register, that'd be my choice of action, up there with Canada

no, there is not going to be a draft because of iraq. the gov't is just gearing up for it incase it is needed. theres a lot of things that are waiting to boil over right now, especially with north korea. i would fight for our country and help my brothers on the battlefield if it came down to it. but not for bush's fucked up foreign policy.

if it was a war like WW2 where our country was in real danger i would fight. all politics aside, if it comes down to defending our country i would. but right now, i think the draft will only be enacted if North Korea gets out of line, or all hell breaks loose in the middle east. i dont think its gonna happen though.. especially if we ALL vote Bush out of office. and no, you're not helping that happen if you vote for dumb ass Nader.

I think the ones in charge don't read them but these emails will help if the politicians ask their aides what the people are saying. It helps to get out there and be heard too but any effort to make things better is one step in the right direction, right?

If people become involved without becoming discouraged, they may keep reaching farther into activism. A teen today that sends an email may become motivated enough by sending the email, to go into politics and make a real difference. It feels good to believe we may actually be guiding the steps of others into building a better planet, ya know?

Voting Kerry, just cause he's not Bush, isn't the brightest idea. Bush won cause the Republicans ran a "At least he's not Gore campaign". See where that got us?
Also, and I started reading to re-research this, and I didn't end up getting the exact info I wanted to back this up, so don't take my word for it, READ IT YOURSELF!, but, here goes.
I have a friend who is and has been for many years incredibly knowledgeable about political issues and whatnot, and now nad again i see him and we have conversations on the topic. last time, he was mentioning the elections and why kerry sucks (don't think he wants bush, ok, but they can both be dicks). anyways, this came up, this draft legislation, and he gave a couple reasons as to WHY bush CAN'T get this legislation to pass, though I cna't remember exactly why. The scary thing is, whatever is hindering bush from passing this, isn't encumbering Kerry. Kerry wants this to go. So, go find this shit, and you might just learn something in the processs. don't go on rumours, read for yourself.

interesting.

Would be nice if we had any good options for president.... I mean this REALLY shouldn't be a matter of who we hate the least... it SHOULD be who we like the most. But alas, such is politics. Well whoever gets elected, I hope the draft doesn't end up happening, but I also dont want to rely on that alone to save me.

I want to read up more on politics, but I dont really know where I can go for SOLID unbiased reports on, say, John Kerry.

If anyone knows of some really good, solid, unbiased (politically) news web sites or services, please post links. (if such a thing even exists)

Yes, Bush was elected president by the electoral college. Sorry.

Well I think that the USA is going to provoke N. Korea into a war. Just look at the history of war for our country and you will see that we are do to get rid of about 5 to 10 million boys. With the state of our country it will more than likely happen and don't forget they still want to test all there gagets in a real war. If we go to war with N. Korea then it will turn into WWIII. It's wierd to think that there could be enemy solders here and people running and hiding for there lives. Can you remember "Red Dawn" I think thats what it was called.

-----------$28 million has been added to the 2004 Selective Service System (SSS) budget to prepare for a military draft that could start as early as June 15, 2005.-----------------

I might get lucky, I'm 24 now and my birthday is in August so they can wait 3 months and I'll be 26 and will be in the clear... I'm crossing my fingers and knocking on wood...

Seriously, this isnt 1962. They arent going to have a draft for the simple fact that they'd be laughed out of the building.

The youth population today is nowhere near as stupid/patriotic as they were during the vietnam war years. I guarantee if they had a draft, 95% of the people I go to school with would burn their draft cards, or whatever, immediately.

It'd be a joke. They'd be forced to jail hundreds of thousands of people, and they just couldnt do it.

Well it appears my letter was deemed a threat and somehow got forwarded to the rockefeller house where my roommate works.. they chewed him out and the FBI is coming to investigate me sometime soon. So if I'm gone in the next couple of days you know what happened.
