No no no .... Not Sushi like you know it..
I want to make American Sushi...
Here is what I have soo far.
Cheeseburger Sushi: Hamburger, American Cheese, French Fries, lettuce and tomato all wrapped in a special pita type bread, held together with mayo.
SantaFe Sushi: Marinated Pork Loin, Chili peppers, Pepper Salsa and stickey spanish rice..
You have to imagine making these to look like traditional sushi.
Will be good stuff.

Make sure to slice the meat super thin so you can roll it.
How about this one: A slice of pepperoni, olive, a little marinara for binder, some mozzerella and romano cheese wrapped in rice.
Hmm, basically just take some ingredients from any american recipe and roll it up in rice. Probably gonna taste good.

I Love It...
I dont want to have everything "rolled up" That would be a "Wrap"...
I want to make everything like small slices so they can be placed together like real sushi and then rolled up in something that keeps it together.
When its cut My American Sushi should resemble Japanese Sushi but it will have that American taste.

Oh ok, I see what you mean. You know what? I bet you could use raw beef sliced thin enough. Like beef tartar with a little bit of worchestershire sauce instead of soy sauce and maybe a little bit of bournaise as a substitute for mayo on a bed of rice. Sort of like a french style steak sushi.
You don't need something to roll it up, most of the time I go to a nice sushi place there is no nori. Just the fish, rice, maybe a little sesame oil/soy sauce and some toasted sesame seeds depending on what type of fish it is.

No Nori..
This is American Sushi.
Ive come up with a desert one with Strawberrys, banannas, honey, cream cheese and ghram crackers. Honey and crackers form the shell.

You could make this pretty easily if you just laid it all out in big layers in a pan and then slice it up afterwards into little rectangles. Instead of doing them all individually.

How about a jambalaya ngiri tray? You could have an arrangement of shrimp, sausage, and braised chicken laid out nicely on cajun-spiced zushi rice. You could make a paste of roast garlic, peppers, onions and tomatoes in the stead of wasabii.

there is one sort of "westernized sushi" type roll that was being demonstrated by a lady at the supermarket...
artic bread (flat, thin bread sort of like pita, looks like thicker matzah) ham slices cut thinly red papprika cut into thin slices salad lettuce sun dried tomato spread (it looks as if it's sun dried tomato with cream cheese)
worked pretty well, made it for a picnic last saturday

I wouldn't really call it "sushi" more than I would just call it "wraps".
