Psilocybe cubensis "Ecuador" PF-Tek cased

AFOAF's bottom layer is straight verm. Applied about 1/2" to bottom of the pan and misted until damp. The substrate layer was approx. 1.5 inches, and composed of two 1/2 pint PF cakes. The top casing layer is approx 1/2" microwave-pasteurized Jiffy Mix (pre-made 50/50+). The casing dimensions are 8"x4"x3" (LxWxD). Casing was incubated for two days, patched, incubated one more day, and then birthed. It was harvested about, oh, 10-14 days after initial crumble/case.
Incubating:
Jar bottom:
Cased:
Terrarium:
--In retrospect, this was overly elaborate... He set it up as a PMP, only to find himself running the air pump infrequently for short spurts of time. He used way too much perlite, way too much water. A short time after hyphal knots formed, he drained the perlite through a colander and set the casing directly on the perlite. Humidity was still too high. He wound up filling a quart jar with ice cubes every morning in order to keep the humidity and temps down. Almost immediately, pins shot up. Temps are still high without using ice... If there is a better way to cool his terrarium, suggestions are welcome.
Ack! Is that mold? With the help of some H2O2, the mycellium emerged victorious!
Hyphal Knots:
Pins:
Results:
After fan-drying and sitting in a desiccant chamber for a couple days, this flush yielded a little more than 9 grams dry.
Details about casing depth and medium are provided about ten posts down in this thread.
... Moving right along! 4/27, Casing #2 was harvested!
New terrarium setup:
Awww...
About 100 wet grams:
Casing #2 was basically the same as the first one, except it was made with three jars instead of two.
Yield thus far: About 20 dry grams from five jars. He's really hoping the second flush goes well. AFOAF is quite content!

Very nice man, really, I'm really impressed you were able to pull off a casing with that good a flush on your first grow. Congrats.

"cigarretes will kill you...didn't the mushrooms teach you that they are no good for you?"
Yes, they did, but that is another story altogether. Long story short: I hesitated and failed to (literally) purge my demons. But I will have more opportunities to work on some metaprograming...
Dry pics coming in a few days =) Thank you =)

Oh man I love the EQ's, they were the ones that I first dreamt about casing and they performed like a dream, in more ways than one. Very foolproof really, i dreamt, but even my first attempt didn't look like that, very nice indeed... props
