I am just wondering what people think would give better odds. Is it better to spend all your money on one machine, or play different machines?

I think it's better to use the poker machines, since that involves some skill, rather than pure luck. Unless you're bad at poker, in which case, just go with the slot machines.

Fuck slot machines. Play blackjack and learn the correct strategy and counting. The odds will actually be in your favor.

They don't build casinos so they can give away money. I remember in the 80's a lot of the casinos here were using this advertising ploy of 'payback percentages'. Signs would read something like "97% payback on our machines". It sounds nice but if you think about it all they are telling you is that if you put $100 in thier machines then they will keep $3 of it. In other words, they are always taking your money. I don't see these 'stats' used for advertising anymore.
Just remember, the odds are always in the favor of the house. If you win $100 then someone else probably lost $110. The house always wins!
Blackjack is your best opportunity to beat the odds. But you have to learn perfect stragtegy first. Then you have to learn to count cards. And then you have to find a casino playing with single decks (almost all use a multiple-deck shoe these days). And on top of all that, as soon as they realise that you are counting cards you will no longer be allowed to play. In other words, the house still always wins!
If you play, play to lose. Think of it as money spent on entertainment. And if you win then you can consider it a bonus. And as for slots, its all blind luck. Thats why they call it "gambling"!

A couple years ago, some MIT kids went to Vegas and teamed up on black jack, and won like 2 million dollars.
What they did was, they would have a couple people be the "scouts". The "scouts" would always play consistently low bets, no matter if the hand was in their favor or the house. Then, when the table turned to their favor, they would give the signal. Upon receiving the signal, the "drunk rich kid" would enter and start placing consistently high bets, all the while, the "scout" would continue placing consistently low bets. When the house got advantage back, the "drunk rich kid" would leave the table. The casino never picked up on this, since they were looking for people that played low bets when the casino had advantage, then raise their bets when the player had advantage. But since all the players played consistently, the casinos never picked up on the patterns.
They totally got away with like 2 or 3 million bucks. And when the statute of limitation expired, they wrote a book and made even more money.
