Poly-fil filters for PF jars?

I've read about the use of poly-fil filters for grain jars because they allow for air exchange while keeping out contams.
Do any of you use poly-fil filters for 1/2 pint PF jars with BRF? Does this promote better gas exchange? Also, if using this method, would you not need the layer of dry verm on top? Is there any reason why one would not want to use poly-fil filters for PF jars? Thanks everyone!

I had a similar idea yesterday for the PF-Tek (in fact tonight I think I might gonna try it...):
why not taking a wide-mouth jar with the lid, make 4 little holes and pass through them some polyfill? The holes will work for a better gas exchange, for the inoculation and for avoiding the 1 / 2 cm layer of straight verm on the top of the cake...
Anyone got a deal with this "tek"?

"The first thing to do is to start with the substrate.
Millet flour is available at whole food stores for the same
price as brown rice flour"... That's somehow different,
isn't it?

not really different from brf. Just a pf cake with millet flour instead of br. Br pf cakes colonize faster with polyfill, and even faster if you shake them. I was pointing to the tek as an example of using polyfill instead of a dry verm barrier. Once the dry verm barrier is eliminated, the substrate can be shaken to speed colonization. dig it?

Sure SM do you know the difference between a substrate with millet flour and BR flower? Today I searched for some mf but couldn't find any... Anyway tonight I'm going to make a couple of jar with a polyfill filter, just one hole or more?
