distilled water harmful?

I read an article ( http://www.mercola.com/2002/may/8/distilled_water.htm ) by a Japanese doctor about distilled water reporting that distilled water is highly acidic, harmful to your health, and greatly inferior to spring water. Does anyone have an opinion on this? It seems to me this basically concerns human health rather than mushroom health, obviously. But would this affect mushroom health (especially considering the highly acidic aspect)? Also, if spring water is recommended, what brands of spring water are best?

Most bottled spring water is simular ime. dh20 seems to work for me for liquid cultures, but i always add a drip of h202 which gets some o2 back into it.
Hadnt though about its acidicness, I'll have to test that, thanks.

I don't know seems like bs.
I'd have to see some more quantitative scientific research on this to take it seriously. There is no "physical proof" of anything in this article, despite the title.

I thought distilled water is what you'd calibrate a digital ph meter with. PH 7 righ? Like in chemistry class. distilled water just has the dissolved solids taken out via evaporation. it is pure water. If someone out there has a ph meter maybe they could test distilled vs spring water for us?

While it is true that distilled water becomes acidic when left on air, it becomes very slightly acidic and the strength of the acid is negligible. Every carbonated drink or for instance an apple juice is several potencies more acidic than air exposed distilled water.

I've been drinking only distilled water (no city water) for almost 10 years...half to a gallon a day.
