Windows users, update your computers NOW
    #2321873 - 02/10/04 09:52 PM (9 years, 3 months ago)

Microsoft's weekly security roundup this week includes a serious remote code execution vulnerability. What does this mean to you?

It means if you use any of the following:
  • Microsoft Windows NT? 4.0
  • Microsoft Windows 2000
  • Microsoft Windows XP
  • Microsoft Windows XP 64-Bit Edition
  • Microsoft Windows Server? 2003
  • Microsoft Windows Server? 2003 64-Bit Edition
You need to run along to Windows Update NOW. Alternatively, you can go straight to MS04-007 and download the patch relevant to your version of Windows.

Since this vulnerability includes the possiblity of remote code execution, an MS-Blaster style worm will be possible and likely in the next few weeks.

Also in this weeks report is a culmulative patch for Internet Explorer which you should apply urgently whether or not you use Internet Explorer, Outlook or Outlook Express. Again, Windows Update will contain this fix.

Do it now and you won't contract the upcoming worm(s), nor will you become part of some shitty IRC botnet or DDOS zombie in the near future. You will save yourself many hours of flatten and installing.

i'd recommend that if you use Windoze you set Windoze Update to automagically update itself whenever possible.

WTF! I try to download and install the patch manually, and it says blah blah cant do that because the cryptographic service is not running on this computer. W2k doesn't have a cryptographic service, it's an XP thing  :mad2: :nut:
