he's talking about pulling the shrooms off the casing layer and having a chunk of it stuck on the dried shroom.

I think it is common practice to clean ones fruits before consumption, I guess it's not safe to assume much of anything though.

I get coir bricks from petland, there sold at most pet shops for lizards bedding.
