 Had a question about a possible contam? wet spot?

In one of my jars it looks regular just a little darker and weter, im not sure if it will colonize over it becuase its not colonized that far yet? but if it dont colonize over it, is it a contam? I herd people saying something about wet spots, but Can I just remove it once its colonized and it will be fine or is it a contam and will spread?

Is it a PF jar or a grain jar?
I haven't heard of much talk about wetspot in a PF jar much.

Wet spot smells horrible. If there isn't tape over you're inoculation holes then you should be able to smell it without even opening the jar. Wet spot is uncommon in pf jars though.

You need to be a little more specific. Does the wet spot look like excess water or water droplets building up between the cake and the jar? Or is the wet spot acutally on the cake itself? If so, is the wet spot in a isolated spot on the cake? Is there a color variation or does it just look like its "wet"?

it does not smell though i have not taken the top off yet but the holes are not coverd, and it dont have exess water droplets right there it just looks wet becuase its just a little darker than the other part of the cake

I think I had the same thing on my PF jars. I took that jar as a loss, but what I found interesting when I broke the cake in half was that the spot went almost through the entire cake. If you can afford, just throw it out. hope that helps

It's probably contamed. Smell it, you'll know. Wet spots are very common in pf jars, especially if you aren't pcing or steaming thoroughly enough, or if you have unsanitary preparation habits. Your substrate to water ratio could have been off too, but since it's only in one jar, consider yourself lucky (for now)

If its a contamn, it will most likely spread. If it does spread throw the jar out (ofcourse), if not just let it grow and see what happens.
If the spot didnt colonize it's your best bet to throw it out.
