To judge others...

The following is the last little bit from a reuters article:
Quote:
Outside the (supreme) court, several hundred religious demonstrators gathered. They opposed the court's rulings that a woman has a constitutional right to an abortion and one in June that struck down laws that make it a crime for gays to have consensual sex in private.
They also supported the display of the Ten Commandments in public buildings. Two demonstrators held up a banner declaring, "The Lord is our Judge."
In the bible it says that we should not judge others, correct? Why is it that Christians feel that it is fine for them to judge others, such as the two demonstrators holding up a banner, but they cry fowl whenever anybody else makes a judgement? I see the same thing over and over again with different causes. It is fine to kill an abortion doctor, but not a fetus? It is fine to smoke tobaco, but not cannabis? It is fine to get so drunk you cannot walk, but don't drink peyote? Why the double standards?
I don't mean to pick only on Christians, but they are the only faith I know well enough that speaks directly about judging others.
Thoughts?

Christians are a strange bunch, its strange how they think that being a "christian" entitles them to the key to heaven and whatever actions the perform are meaningless. I asked an ex - friend why he treated people like shit even though christianity told him not to. his reply was "im not perfect/only human" and tbh this is fucking bullshit, if you know something you do is wrong you stop doing it, not continue and blame the imperfections of the human race.
"the lord is our judge" but until he shows some initiative well just do the judging ourselves. Can't people ever show common sense with their religions and decide for themselves what is unreasonable and what is reasonable. Ie. reasonable: not wanting your child to smoke. Unreasonable: spreading lies about every other religion to spread the plague of ignorance.

As I said in my post, I don't mean to bash Christianity, but it is the only faith that I know well enough to use as a basis of discussion.

People who were brought up in this country have it pretty bad, they either belive in Christianity or burn in hell. I dont know of much ancient religions where you either had to be part of the gang or suffer for eternity. To be born to a Christian family means your life is a guessing game, you either folllow the priest around and do everything he tells you or you go on trying to desipher whats from "god" and whats from the "devil". And if the devil fools you, you pay the price with eternal life........ Yeah weird i know, so how can anything else they donot be weird...

I dont pretend to know what those two women holding up that banner were thinking...
What if they had just come to say that the Lord was their Judge?.. that regardless of what happened in the court room, wether they condoned or condemmed it, ultimately the Maker is the judge. It doesnt matter what religion you are. How are you sure it was in contridiction to where we were told in the Bible not to judge?
It's just something to think about. I think that sometimes or misconceptions or personal slant distance us from like minded individuals.

christianity can be a scapegoat for people who refuse to tend to themselves. they'd rather take out their aggression as god's revenge on others.

Perhaps. But given the context of the previous few statements, it would seem unlikely to be the case. The brings up a good point... the article was written to lead us to make an assumption about the motivation of the demonstrators. Is the author trying to capture the mood of the event, or to sway people in a certain direction by misrepresenting the mood of the event?
