The Pitiful Fungi - CONTEST
    #17774477 - 02/09/13 07:44 PM (11 years, 2 months ago)

This is a contest for the saddest, ugliest, most pitiful fungi find. (pitiful appearance, age/decay, ugly species, environmental damage, insect damage, it's all accepted)
Don't confuse this with the worst fungi picture, the picture quality can be beautiful, it's the ugly fungi we want.
You can post 2 pics per person, and in one weeks time a poll will be added to vote on the contributions.

Lepiota hemisclera from Camino viejo a Pacho Viejo, Mpio de Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico.  This is one of the classic Psilocybe type locations which is mentioned in the literature.  Alonso took me there when I was visiting Veracruz this summer.

It's a Pluteus, that you could probably call P. cervinus, there were lots of these fruiting non-stop for about a month back in April-May...
