Mirror gazing to boost self-esteem?

I never really took the time to look at myself in a mirror while on shrooms, but when I trip everything looks so beautiful, even normally dull and ugly things. One time I stared at this plain-gray carpet in my apartment for 10 minutes just because the light shining on it made it look like the most wonderful pale blue shade. So I got to thinking, if you stared at yourself in the mirror, wouldn't your self-esteem automatically sky-rocket because you'd look so good? Not that I have low self-esteem, this is just what I'm thinking. Maybe some of you have already done this... what were your mirror-gazing experiences like (on low or high doses)?

I should imagine people have better or more exciting things to do whilst on mushies than to gaze into a mirror.

You look really different in the mirror. I've got a sort of 'evil' feeling about mirrors when I'm tripping, it's like they are windows into a parralel universe.

But isn't everything better and more exciting when you're on mushies?

mirrors fuck with your ego as mushrooms also do. They do not mix well.

I looked at myself in the mirror after the peak of a high level 3, and my face looked all sharp and angular, and my eyes kept rolling off the side of my head and then snapping back into place. You know how the world looks when you get "the spins" off, say, nicotine / weed and alcohol? It was as if only my eyes were doing that. My face was too alien for me to make any aesthetic evaluation, it just looked really cool and trippy.

I'm wondering how far back the mirror phenomenon goes back. Do you think that 3000 years ago an ancient South American Indian took some mushrooms and looked into a pool of water to ponder his own reflection? I mean the first time I tripped was 15 years ago, we had no community of trippers to speak of, but the first thing that caught my attention as weird or REALLY trippy was gazing at my reflection in a bathroom mirror. Now, no matter where I go, the consensus is that it is one of the weirdest things to do while tripping. I have also had consensus that the second weirdest thing to do is to take a shit while peaking. Suddenly you are all alone in a room ejecting material from your mortal coil, with sphincters and tubes and digestive juices, and food production and consumption, and you can suddenly see the process of life in all of its grand circle. All that from taking a dump. Hmmm, what if you take a dump, and then look into a mirror?
I also know that if you Xerox a mirror you will go back in time.

You should try taking a dump while looking in a mirror while peaking.

Yeah, taking a shit while peaking is a... very different experience.
Looking at the mirror, is depending on the person. You could imagine someone having self-esteem issues or negative thoughts towards themselves, not liking who they see in the mirror when they look.
Personally I like mirrors. While tripping, I'de say I enjoy looking at the mirror because such a happy person is staring back. Some people might not like looking at themselves and thinking/reflecting on who they are. Other people enjoy this intense introspection.
I would certainly say it boosted my self-esteem looking at a mirror on 5-MeO-DMT. It wasn't the typical shroom trip, although in such an altered mindstate with such clear goals and motivations, I couldn't help but smile and laugh in such happiness, to be present in front of that mirror staring at myself.

A lot of people hate looking into mirrors while tripping because they don't want to see themselves transform into ugly/sinister/demonic looking beings. It happens. The way I see it, everything you see in the mirror is a manifestation of some aspect of yourself. It has to be. Mirror gazing feels kind of like a cleansing experience. Don't judge what you see, just accept it. At the end of the session you will probably feel better about yourself, and look better too. More "you".
Know thyself.

Mirrors Tarnish Women's Image, Canada Study Shows
Admittedly it isn't while tripping but it serves the same point, if you are looking for some kind of boost then looking in the mirror to let it jump out at you isn't always the best option, I have had both good and bad experiances with mirrors and for the most part wouldnt trade either in for something else.

I love looking into mirrors. I always wind up giggling at myself or just grinning like an idiot -- well, when my face isn't sliding in different directions and my moustache isn't growing down to my chin...and that's damned neat too. %)
