I had a single hit on some 5x and definitely felt that the world was too alien to make sense.. forgot where I was (bedroom) and forgot why this was happening to me- it was only when I saw the pipe after I'd come down that I even knew I had smoked salvia. This was intensely frigtening. Every second I could see all the colours that made up my room + especially my jeans and bedclothes, but I didn't see them for what they were. I just felt like I was falling forwards into their colours in a never ending loop.
That sound like a breakthrough to anyone? I can probably imagine it being even weirder but I'd be terrified at the idea..

Yeah that sounds like a break-through.
Many people find Salvia scary, but to me the trips have always been neutral and interesting. The concepts of scary and wrong just don't exist in my mind anymore during a trip.
I live in the city and I always have ambient music when using Salvia. Background noises like people and cars can be disturbing so I like to drown that out with some ambient music. Not too loud and not too soft.
Sometimes I won't even notice the music but on other times the music guided my trip. My trip was like a visualisation of the music.

heh one thought I've had is that its such a different experience, it gets your brain functioning in such a different way that it can't recognize most of the stuff that's already there until the drug's molecules are done partying in your head 
Since it can't make much sense of the past's recordings, it has to start programming a new way to relax and starts trying to categorize instead of recognize - treats everything as a first-time experience, because it kind of IS in that state.. It is kind of a reset on the brain's natural "what's going on?" process. So in a sense you ARE free, you can reprogram things how you wish - the problem is, its hard to even wish to program a certain way because your ability to program and wish has to be reprogrammed as well
I think this is why the first few times one takes a drug are pretty different than an experienced user's experiences, because there's already stuff recorded in that state of mind - things get more recognizeable and relaxed (too relaxed sometimes? lol). I think this ties in to the childish feelings one can experience while in new states of mind - because childhood was the exact same thing but with regular oxygen-breathing intoxication and things were the most unrecognizable when you'd NEVER experienced ANYTHING heh
well this has turned into another rant so I'd better just cut it off here and go think

thanx for the link, polarity. i ordered 3 grams of 5x extract. should be plenty for two, right?
sigh, looking forward to it 
i wonder...should i smoke a few hits of weed beforehand? maybe it will help entice a break through? i understand that some folks experience next to nothing during their first salvia attempts.

I ordered some tincture from Salvia Shop, Daniel Seibert's web site, or the ordering page on Salvia Wisdom i should say, I'm hoping to ease into the experience a bit more than some do, which apparently causes alot of people never to try it again since it's so out there, from what I've read. 3 grams of 5x should last quite a while!!!

3 grams will be more than enough for two.. Think packing about half a bowl if you're doing it in a bong. As for not feeling any effects, well, I tried it first with dry-leaf and absolutely fuck all happened. So I graduated to 5x, took one hit, held for 30 seconds or so and as far as I know I brok through. Better to play it cautious to begin with and work on from there. You can probably get about 10 trips from 3 grams. Oh yeah and when you smoke it, keep the flame on the stuff while you inhale.. an initial flame followed by a warm glow (like you do weed) will not work.

250mg of salvia 5x extracted leaf should do the trick.

whatever works for you, go for it basically.. I like a toke after I come back from the trip because I always feel really agitated, and I find it helps me to calm down a bit.
