Definitely introduced. Only psilocybe native to WA is corophila and it's inactive from what I can gather.

I think it would be fuckin awesome if we got a new shroom to grow here,
imagine if we done that, imagine what the news would say "a group of
people from Perth on the online forum 'the shroomery' have gotten
together and started growing a new species of mushrooms all round the Perth area".
has anybody heard the story of the old as hippy that first got shrooms
in balingup? we would be like him, people would be telling stories of the
shroomery guys who started it all hahaha.

Yes! I have a plan!  Maybe not a new species... but how about mass distribution of our favorite woodloving species!

Ok - you know those council trucks that drive around watering plants? I see em every now and then. They just drive down the road and water the plants in the middle of the road. All these plants have woodchip mulch in em.
The plan is to add spores to the water supply that the trucks use.
That way the council will distribute the spores all over the place, and pretty much directly on to man-made outdoor shroom beds.

You'll need a heap of spores brother... I don't know where you would gather that many spores from! Unless we make a nation wide pledge for spore prints, haha.. I've printed all of my finds this year so I can spread the sub love around. I think you're better off spreading your own patches than you are trying something like that unless you really do have ridiculous amounts of spores.

another article pulled from the news today........

Donnybrook police targeting magic mushroom pickers
16 Jul, 2012 10:00 PM
DONNYBROOK police have charged three people with drug possession after they were found with 658 grams of magic mushrooms in their car last week.
Officer in charge Sergeant Shaun Peters said police conducting patrols on July 8 saw a vehicle of interest near a mushroom patch in Balingup.

The next day police observed the car driving on the highway and stopped and searched it.

The search resulted in a 25-year-old male, an 18-year-old male and an 18-year-old female, all from Perth, being charged with possession of the mushrooms.

"We're targeting Balingup for magic mushroom pickers and the results are showing we are apprehending offenders," Sergeant Peters said.

Anybody who has information on illegal drug use, or who has observed suspicious activity in Balingup, is urged to call the Donnybrook Police on 9732 3333.

No, we parked within the actual forest, hidden from J Rd but easy enough to find for anyone (including police) who know what the fuck they're doing. I've always been aware that police presence is a looming issue but we certainly won't be so careless in future  Got a bit cocky, I guess.. I've been picking around the area for years and have never had any trouble with the lawmen of the Donnybrook Shire.. So I probably don't need to say, "The cops actually do patrol the forest, it's not just a scare tactic created by your fellow shroomers to scare off the tourists"..

just going back a few comments where everyone were talking about growing subs.. Ive heard they're difficult to grow? I saw one post where everyone was pumped to see an indoor sub grow. Just wondering is it the fruiting stage thats hard to achieve? I'm no mycologist but ive got healthy patches of myc going from initial stem butts and a few prints? I have both indoor and outdoors going in jar/containers indoors and tubs/ground outdoors.

Indoor/Outdoor
* pop corn
* pine/red gum chip
*coffee grounds/flour/white rice (surprised with this one, was my first shot and knew very litle - heard white rice sucked)

Didnt try to sterilize much, did try a couple diff methods of boiling pop corn in distilled water and with peeled potatoes in the mix. I gave up on the rice coffee and flour one after about a month because it was jsut a long shot and then after reading about the best types of myc food to use i never saw anything like this combo, however it is the best growing so far? Unless its mould? But its pure white and I'm hoping it isnt.

But yeah is it the fruiting that is the toughest hurdle?

oh an one more thing, do you think tap water interferes with the watering process because of the chemicals as opposed to rain water?

Hey man,
Subs are hard to cultivate indoors like you would P. cubensis.
They are quite easy to grow if you have suitable fruiting conditions where your outdoor bed is located.
Getting sub myc to grow on grains is straight forward. The hard part is cleaning up your wild spore print.

I got a few colonised chips from someone in melbourne. A potent and aggressive coloniser. I put this handful of chips in a bigger pot around 26th Jan this year. At the end of May they fruited (i live close to b-town so conditions is good). I took one of the pins, cut it in half, and placed it on agar. Cut the clean bit to fresh agar.
I cut a piece of the clean growth and put it in Liquid Culture (corn syrup and water).
I shot up some rye grass seed with it. Growth was slow. So then i used  pearl barley and a small amount of oat bran. Myc took off like a rocket! the whole jar will be done in 12-14 days.
Then i will get a mycobag. Fill i with 4 parts sawdust 1 part bran mix. Also a few soaked redgum chips in there. PC it and then dump a colonised grain jar in there.
Then once all done i will start outside beds and also spread spawn to suitable locations.  I will have my own patches on backroads well away from the fucking pigs!

A dude on here in Mandurah(ish) location has many outdoor beds that fruit. So spread the spawn far and wide and the will survive.

Doesn't matter about the water. But you should get a pressure cooker.
Your grains need to be sterile.
