Sure, the named drugs in the legislation are already obsolete. However, one of the key components of the bill was that it makes it scheduling new compounds easier and faster. It'll help them catch up.

It's only going to get worse in the near future, and there will be no awakening of the masses. The War on Drugs is a background issue to most Americans. Even illegal drug users often view the general status dispassionately perhaps citing that "they just need to legalize weed."
The recent bill increased the DEA's power to control substances on a whim. Future drug bills will only serve to schedule more drugs and increase the government's financial and legal abilities to control and survey what chemicals people ingest.

Thanks to the loudmouth journalist who wrote this, bringing more attention to the stuff that is REMAINING. Sure, we need more GOOD journalism on this topic, highlighting the futility of teh drug war... but really... who do you think you're converting with an article like this?
