They are Psilocybe subaeruginosa. Galerina species have a much more orange gill color at that stage of development.
Excellent, thanks I wasn't sure cause I've never seen Galerina's at that stage of drying.

So I'm about 98% sure this is a sub, there's definitely some blueing going on... but then I've never seen one with such a skewed stem to cap ratio, this has a really thick stem compared to most of the ones I find. Also the curling bits on the stem are curious, so if anyone can confirm...

I think it's a sub with a really odd stem.

sparna said: The Galerinas you're worried about have a ring ("annulus") on the stipe , those don't look like they had anything like that. But wait for a TI to be sure.
Not all Galerina spp. have an annulus, and many that do lose it over time, it is never safe to assume a mushroom is not a Galerina due to a lack of an annulus, all characteristics must be looked at.
Thanks for all the help guys!
Don't worry, I'm not going to put them in my mouth without being 1000% certain, I was more interested in your guys advice as a way of measuring my own appraisal skills. I've learned a lot just from reading the comments (things like golden sheen when dry, and colour of gills etc I would never have known to look for)
Next time I post I'll post pics of fresh ones but already I'm feeling a lot more confident, so much appreciated.

Hey guys, pretty wet couple of days. Found a few in a park when I was walking the dog. They have faint blue stems but they seem to be going closer to black as they are quite wet. The have dark brown to black caps that were yellow and have a blue tinge to them. Gills have a bit of blue to the, as well but overall they are quite dark. If they are old and have taken a bit of water will that cause them to darken so much?? Will take proper photos when I get home. Just at a mates now.

So I went to Eltham today because everyone raves on about Eltham being some kind of mushroom stronghold.... But I managed to only find ONE decent sized sub (standing tall and proud by itself) and a bunch of black decaying ones.
I also managed to get lost, wind up some 8 km south in Templestowe and had to ask a bunch of people how to find a bus to get back home. So, a walk for 5 hours down along the creek and shit all to find because I didn't know where the hell I was going. Apparently my idea of "park" and google's idea of park are not the same thing... I think this hunting's starting to take a toll.... I feel a little possessed and addicted.

well u definitely have some P. Subs there in both your ID's
get a TI to confirm that they are all subs though you may have some different once in there, it's harder to tell when they have started to dry...

Can u get a id. I picked these last week abd they were blue when growin and as i picked they went entirely blue and black. As dried they oxidized to a lime green colour and dark brown shriveled up. On picking tesee today they blued. I left these behind last time. Habitat was tan bark and mud area. Aalso it is strange where i pick these is another variety of identical mushroom with browb stem. They do not blue when picked even in 30 minutes. Am i picking the right thing and are the brown stem completely different?

@un_balanced: Both lots are Psilocybe subaeruginosa.
@needshroomnow: I can't really decipher what you've typed but the mushrooms in your photo are Psilocybe subaeruginosa.
