HAHAHA thats what the surface turned out to be!?! My dad told me about Microsoft Surface like lit 10 years ago. He said it was gonna be a table that you put in bars and restaurants that were basically touch screen computers. I think I remember him saying he saw a prototype. I do remember him saying it had some cool features like one where if you put your cell phone on the table the surface would interact with it and you can pull up your mess and whatnot. There was other cool shit i can't remember cuz it was lit like 10 years ago. Guess they scraped that cool groundbreaker tech for a knock off tablet that prob half as functional as ipad and years late. Willing to bet none of those years went go into designing something unique and innovative...could be wrong..but Microsoft has disappointed me for years and years now.

Yeah It really does look like something MS should've came out with 5 years ago.
That table would be cool if a whole house was made of it.

I think it's been said that the Surface will come out basically the same time as windows 8 so I figure windows 8 Surface tablet.

My point exactly. Windows OS generally sucks imo, but some people like it. I haven't tested 8 yet.

But I think its gonna have its place pretty much everywhere.
Being able to interact with a table or a wall next to you will become very popular IMO.
Sure you have your cell or tablet or whatever, but in my mind, nothing beats a TV touch screen computer. I can imagine it being the new ATM machines, bus stop transit maps, product store display and other useful things.

I've played with alot of tablets, and the main thing I dislike about the Android and iOS tablets is the limiting operating system. They're basically a really big smartphone.
This is the main advantage I see with this MS tablet. A real operating system. More functional and backwards compatible with a lot of PC software or at the very least with upcoming Win8 software.
The more I think about it, the more I think this thing is gonna sell pretty darn well if the price point is reasonable.

windows 8 yet another microsoft product my dad told me had 10000 features that I wanted 10 years ago...now to being realesed with none of them

Hard to have an opinion on something no one has used. I have always like windows. I never have
any problems with the OP and there no reason for me to think I wont like windows 8 or the surface.
Gona have to play around with them for a bit when they come out to know for sure.

ok had to look up if windows 8 will be on the tablet. cuz they originally said it be on the xbox, tablet, windows phone and zune. Which would have allowed new levels of synergy between devices never before imagined possible. but they scraped that idea too soo no windows 8 phone or windows xbl.

No It's actually a tablet docked on a key bored with light up keys. I think it's be cool if it folded into the back for portability, I'm not actually sure if it does that or not.

Yeah I heard windows 8 will have xbox live on it. I think that'd be cool because you can watch HBO movies on xbox live but it's not like you couldn't figure out a way to do it otherwise. I thought the Zune got discontinued.

I suspect that MS isn't going to disappoint in the hardware dept considering what's already out there:
The Prime has a 10-12 hr battery in tablet only mode, 15-18 hrs when docked (has another battery in the dock. You can also charge your mobile phone off of the Prime's battery if need be. (through USB port) Very handy on the road or in the airport.
The iPad2 has a 10 hr battery life. Not sure if you can charge phones through an external USB dongle. (someone else may know)
The Prime has a 1.4ghz quad core (Nvidia Tegra3) processor, 1GB of ram, 32/64GB internal HDD space.
iPad2 has a 1.0ghz dual core (Apple A5) processor, 512mb ram, 16/32/64GB of internal HDD space.
I suspect since the bar has been set, the Surface will meet or beat those type of specs. We shall see.
