No. It's literally the same exact experience just with gorgeous visuals. Also, know this. Diablo is a game that you go through 4 times to reach its highest potential. The first time around it's insultingly easy, the 2nd time around it's a normal challenge. 3rd Time around they say (haven't gotten there yet) gets quite difficult, and the 4th time seems to be very hard. The levels of difficulty are Normal, Nightmare, Hell, and Inferno. You can't jump into the game right into Nightmare, which sucks. Normal is way too easy. I don't think I'd recommend this game unless you are completely aware of how Diablo works and you are fine with that. If you aren't into hunting for items and spending hours clicking away in dungeons just for the heck of it and relaxing don't buy this game.

I'm kind of disappointed overall in it, it was fun at first, but as mentioned it got repetitive real quick.. and the easymode and the sudden brick wall that is Inferno act 2-3-4. In terms of the "fun" factor it lost a lot of the fun value after the 3rd time killing Diablo for me.. Inferno is a major gear check / faceroll. The itemization is a joke, in that random rares and drops you get are 99% of the time total trash.. and to get the best gear to fine tune your hero you pretty much have to spend millions in the AH. Kind of a let down from D2 overall. We'll see hopefully they fix the game a bit in future patches.. I'm probably gonna stick with it for a while though, if not to at least attempt to make a few bucks on the side in the real money auction house.... All in all it seems like another blizzard endless "grind" game. I'll probably play it for a while though
Think I'm gonna give Torchlight 2 a try.

That's the whole point. Diablo was always like spinning a roulette wheel, or a pulling a slot machine. You're only going to have a very very small chance of a perfectly rolled item. As a long running hardcore D2 player, I see complaints with the franchise, not the game. In order to progress through the higher difficulties trade was always a necessity, now they actually facilitate it; which is nice.

Skip it and buy something else. Not sure if Starcraft 2 is still on sale for $20 off normal price but I'd buy that shit over D3 if possible.
It's somewhat of a let down but that's to be expected. D3 will pick up as expansions are added.

It kinda sucks. Shroomism nailed a few of the major points. You won't be finding cool set pieces or uber items like in D2. 99% of rare/legendary items you pick up will be vendor trash.
You can't loot upgrades unless you can kill the next tier difficulty of monster. You can't kill the next tier difficulty of monster without gear upgrades. So that leaves the auction house. I have trouble producing enough gold to get anything good. So that leaves the Real Money auction house. And I refuse to pay anymore than the $60 I already dropped on Diablo.
After grinding through the game 3 times you're rewarded with a 4th play through that's next to fucking impossible to play. Especially as a monk. That brings me back to inadequate gear, the majority of your playing at lvl 60 will be trying to "play" the auction house. Buy low sell high yadda yadda.
If I had known all this beforehand, I would have wasted my money on something else, like weed.

But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns.
Also he got a race car.

Of course Blizz has already committed to changing the drop rates. I think they just wanted it to start out brutal so they could dial it back.
YOu also have to remember there is essentially no item sink. Good items will likely circulate for a long time. The game is going to be brutal until the market saturates and item prices fall, and until Inferno gets patched down in difficulty.
50K, which I make in < 1 hr with my lvl 60 farming act 1 (which is cake, by the way), will buy equipment to push a character all the way through an act. If items were too expensive, you were looking for the wrong items or paying too much. In addition, in my time playing I've found probably two dozen extremely rare and/or valuable items. So it's not like you don't get loot, it's more a game of knowing what's loot and what's trash.
You're only going to find a True Gemerald once every like 20 hours of play, tops.

Where do you farm in act 1?
20 hours per good item is subjective A ranged toon that can kite or better yet exploit stuck AI can kill more champs/bosses than a melee.
Maybe I just suck ass.

Naw, that can't be it.

Well I bought the game. Man its really user friendly! Maybe thats why the diablo 1 and 2 fanboys hate it What do i spend my cash on? So far I have just been leveling my blacksmithing, is that a waste?
Any other tips to make sure I dont screw up my game or can make the most of my time playing it?

I played it for a little while, but then realized as awesome as it was. I couldnt imagine doing the same story line over and over again and calling it "Fun"
Getting a refund was easy since I bought the digital copy
