 first rough DMT trip in a while

Okay there's not much to this report but i'm bored in a new empty house with nothing to do so ima type something up...
I had done freebase DMT around 14 times or so with no real problem in terms of bad trips or negative effects. Of course this probably led me to becoming a little overly confident and hardheaded. I had been craving a little psychedelia for a long time now so i decided when i woke up this morning i would give it a little go. Problem is I had to leave to get to the airport at 8. No big deal! It's only 7:40! I'll be down in like 5 minutes, finish packing and leave!... WRONG. (Never take a psychedelic if you're second guessing your setting. A little nervousness about doing it is fine, but being in a place you're unsure about or doing it at a time you're unsure about is NOT.) Anyways i packed a TINY amount of DMT. Probably 15-20mg at MOST. That's about a 3rd of what i normally smoke. I was expecting something mild and enjoyable. I don't know what happened though. 1st toke = nothing. 2 toke = nothing (was taking small ones as it was early and i wasn't up for a coughing fit) 3rd toke = ah this is familiar. 4th toke = where the fuck am i. That's right. 15ish mg took my face out of this planet. A dose that normally resembles a light mushroom trip was ripping my reality to shreds.
First thing that hits my mind "why do i keep forgetting what this is like." I started watching incredibly intricate fractals. The only way i can describe it is as watching infinity pour into itself. Just endless loops of impossible geometry getting sucked into their spirals of infinite complexity. Shapes that seemed to defy 3 dimensional space. Shapes that are impossible to recall later. Suddenly i realized i had been there a damn long time. Looked at my clock. It had been 4 minutes but felt like an eternity. Things started to get a little weird from there. "Do you have somewhere to go? What's the rush? Im not done with you!" It was starting to get a little dark but then died down... Then for some stupid reason (damn you tripping mindset) i thought... "Let me draw this out a little longer!" *inhale another huge toke* WHY THE FUCK WOULD ANYONE PROLONG A DARK TRIP. Well anyways it got pretty damn intense from there. I was staring at my arms and they were pretty gone in a whirl of red fractals. At this point the trip was really starting to turn on me. It felt like an eternity. My mind kept spiraling around the idea of time and the fact that i had to leave for the airport soon. But this whole time i sat there really calm thinking "i know how this works. you can't fool me into a bad trip" and avoided a bad trip by using this mentallity. Even though it was dark i was still under the spell of the incredible geometric shapes. Thinking to myself "I want this to end soooo badly, but i just can't believe my eyes." At one point i thought, "Okay enough of this i need to get my shit together and head out." I got up walked over to put my pipe away and immediately started tripping out bad. It was as if the drug realized I was in a hurry and decided to torment me for it. So i ran back to my bed and flung myself across it where the darkness subsided and eventually the trip itself.
First time DMT has ever felt like an eternity. Even though the experience was horribly unpleasant I have no regrets of it as it was also one of the most beautiful things i've ever seen. It did refresh my respect for the substance though. So no more tripping on a whim. Gotta make sure i have an ample amount of time away from responsibilities so that i can relax.
That being said... I still recommend this drug to everyone. A lot of people think they're not experienced enough for it... But truth is, no amount of moderate mushroom and acid trips will ever prepare anyone for DMT. It's just something you kind of have to dive into and see for yourself. It's certainly one of a kind and by far one of the most beautiful experiences life has to offer.

Can be a fickle creature, can Dimitri.. I've had quite a few trips where on the comeup it felt like things might turn bad, then I get used to it and mellow out. There's only been one (there's a thread on the board about it somewhere) that was truly horrible. Nothing nice about it at all, I just got turned insane and felt primal fear for the longest 20 minutes of my life. That said, I was in a bad mindset, it was only about my 5th DMT trip etc etc.. I've smoked it probably about 60 times since and never once had a bad trip again.
Like you say, set and setting. I knew the night I had my bad trip it was a bad idea to smoke DMT, but I did it anyway and paid the price. Looks like you did the same thing..
Listen to what your body is telling you before you smoke this stuff, folks (although it's perfectly acceptable to feel a little nervous before smoking it, I get that most times purely on account of anticipating the impending madness)!

agreed. and honestly i normally get that weird feeling coming up. the first hits dark and creepy, then once the visuals kick in man im gone and happy as ever!
i don't care too much though. it's a learning experience and i honestly find bad trips to be really cool in retrospect. some people like to get hung up on them and let it create anxiety... but i see it as yin and yang sort of. you're going to have evil and amazing trips but the beauty of them is balanced on both ends.
but yeah, in the right place and time... DMT is just nothing to fear imo 
im still in awe over those visuals... goddamn
