 Think friend had drug induced psychosis

ok so last week maybe like 9-10 days ago he went to a music festival and did shrooms for the first time ever twice, and molly for the first time ever as well once. He had only smoked weed often and salvia once before this. I am not sure if this stuff is laced or if there is just the effect of the drugs he took but he came back after not sleeping for 6 days and not eating much, and was talking about having 3 thoughts at once, looking at a ball and making it stay balanced on a post just by focusing energy on it, i thought he was just weirded out from talking to a buddhist monk on his shroom trip but about a week later (this being Monday of this week) i got a call from his mom that he was in an ambulance claiming he was god. He was going ape **** whenever his mom left the hospital room once they got there is what she told me. I can not visit at this time and he will be admitted to a mental health facility soon. Can anybody tell me the possibilities of this, will he never be the same he was before all of this? Is this curable? Is there something I can do?

Sounds like the dude had latent schizophrenia, if those were the only drugs he took. I've heard that shrooms can essentially take a multi-year process of slowly coming down with schizophrenia and compact it down into a few days. That would really suck if this were the case, honestly in a way I hope the guy got laced drugs

Anyway, it's impossible to say what's going on with your friend since you weren't with him when he was at said music festival. He could have taken anything. He could have gone on an MDPV binge for all we know (MDPV has been sold as extacy). Or he might have taken datura. It's really impossible to say.
If it is the result of any drug use, then he'll be perfectly fine after the drug wears off. Maybe in couple days. Some drugs can last 30+ hours, or even longer in the case of datura and such.

yep posted on yahoo answers. Looking for any info on it at all. Dude is like a brother to me, pretty freaked. I have never thought anything bad of shrooms and am not blaming them in any way. I'm just looking for people who may of been in a similar situation.
Heavy pot smoker with no psychedelic experiences beyond good edibles, so just am not familiar with the world at all, is just out of nowhere.

As far as something you can do the answer is a resounding no. If you are a religious man you can pray his psychiatrists are worth their salt and don't jump to any crazy conclusions about his drug use. However, it seems to me a week is way too long for it to be just due to the drug itself

i am sorry for snapping at ya bro. i have taken my medication now. but man, you kids need to seriously DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU CONSUME SOME SHIT FROM THE STREET MAN, HE WILL LIE TO MAKE A QUICK BUCK. it is just a big pet peeve to me hearing sad shit like this.
this is what you need to do, you PRAY for your friends mental health. nothing else in this fucking world will help him in this area more than praying for him, im not kidding. medication will help him for now...but lets pray he doesnt get dependent on them and regains his 'identity/sanity'

well when he got back he was acting really odd telling me about hitting this new train of thought, hitting enlightenment. I didn't see him after that and then a week later got that call, so the trip has gone way beyond it. I am wondering if the lack of food & sleep added to it. He always seemed well together and a very deep individual. Just freaked out right now. Not trying to scare anybody, just looking for real advice. Should i not smoke weed around him anymore? will there always be a difference in him after this? I guess there is no way for you to know but just looking for people who may of been in similar situations to give me some sort of help.
the lack of sleep i think he slept maybe 2 hours in 2 weeks and barely ate, i thought that could of done something but i have no real facts to back that up.
Thank you or the apology. I will pray, never been very religioius but just not sure what to do at this point.
As for him ingesting more, he told me he felt like he would only do shrooms rarely once he got back, he thought the trip was amazing though. He also said he didn't like molly because it was to much happiness that he hadn't earned, but he really enjoyed the struggle of the shroom trip.

and ya know what, you saying he is a deep individual by nature, maybe the way he is expressing himself NOW after the experience, he is just being misunderstood and others are blowing this shit way outta proportion...you should let us know what YOU think once u finally get to talk to him yourself and analyze any major differences through your own observation.
people might just be totally fuckin intimidated by his new philosophy. i mean was he trying to hurt himself or others??
cuz like, he IS god...but an aspect of the whole, perhaps he doesnt know how to express what he is feeling without being taken for a looney tune.

yeah i just told him to balance out his life with the spirituality and his casual self because he seemed like almost 2 different personalities for a bit...which would be schizophrenia i guess. He knew he was him it i guess was just a change of subject but just seemed like a different guy talking completely but again it was right after a trip with no sleep for a week. I really wish i had more info.

This sort of thing happened to one of my friends. He did 2c-x of some sort then the next day smoked some spice he got from a head shop. Instantly after smoking the spice he had a psychotic break down and flashback. He was also taken to the mental ward but I dont know many details. After months of severe depression (sleeping 20 hours a day not talking to anyone not doing anything) he turned to religion and is slowly becoming more and more religious. I saw him recently and he is doing wonderfully. It depends partially on the person and whether they are willing to help themselves. Ofc it is extremely hard but it's doable from what I've seen. He is also like a brother to me. He did have underlying mental issues as well which is a big factor in these things but not necessarily what causes it. I wish you and your friend the best and I hope he gets better without going through all my friend did.

Thanks for the story and relating. This is a dude I have known since 1st grade, I am now 20. We chill usually at least once a week and maybe up to 3-4 times on occasion so it is such a weird concept that this guy that has been such a big part of my life could never be the same. Wanna know whats really fucked up? the day all this went down with going to the hospital was his 20th birthday. Life really is just sick sometimes.

My friend I have known for less time but we are as close as if we knew each other for much longer (7years but feels like our wholes lives). We went through a lot and the most difficult time was when he started mentally breaking down. The most important thing is that you don't leave him. Haha sounds like a relationship but you know what I mean. I'm not sure how many great friends he has like you but most of the time you have only a few if you are lucky. Most other friends are just friends to chill with and have fun. So yeah just stay through all his stuff. My friend at the time was also bipolar so had insane mood swings at me when all I did was tried to help and if your friend is able to get a hold of himself like my friend whether it be quickly or not, he might not appreciate it at the time but after he starts getting better he will be so thankful that you might not understand now. When I saw my friend, we didn't see each other for like 7 months because I am living in a different country now but he ran up and gave me the biggest hug a guy has ever given me and was so glad to see me as I him. We talk even though we live in different countries and are still amazing friends. I am 19 btw lol.

He is actually right at the perfect age for severe mental disorders to start coming to the surface (which is oh so comforting for you I'm sure). W/o more information its really hard to know what is going on but this is the perfect age for schizophrenia to surface, maybe he just needed a push. If I were you I'd keep this information from his mother unless it becomes medically relevant, the last thing she needs to think is that her son is a hopped-up dope head who just cooked his brain at a hippie festival

If he didn't sleep/eat for 6 days he must of been on some kind of amphetamine I think. I had a "friend" who stayed up for a week (with the help of speed) and when he crashed he also had a psychosis tought people where looking for him, kicked in his own door, told people from the night shop to hide him from the people that where looking for him. He forgot most of it and is fine now

i had a friend become nuts once after eating tons of shrooms, he ate all the cubensis he could find on a field, and continued to do so for 3 or 4 days in a row....
In the end he was telling his owm parents that it was raining inside the house and that the new flood was coming, and that he was the resurrection of quetzalcoatl.... and how aliens wanted to abduct him... funny but sad shit
I remember how he told me a mango tree was my guardian spirit, and I asked him yeah how is that??' and he just hug and caressed the tree, and said why cant you see it???? he slowly came back to "reality" but he has never been the same guy.
probably your friend is on the same boat... no illumination there, they will not become better persons, probably the opposite, the brain cannot handle so many information and it just fries you know?
very sad cos psychedelics get bad rep because of ignorant irresponsible people like our said friends

Sadly there is nothing to do. Some people are fragile to trips and have a fragile idea of reality.
Every trip is a very strong experience, that can be traumatic especially if you re not surrounded well or fragile.
