I think this is a very reasonable suggestion, initially I rejected that it might be P. cervinus due to those bulbs for cystidia instead of the classic horned cystidia, but maybe that's what they look like when they are really immature, next time I find it, I will not pick it and just go back in a day or so to see if it matures into a regular P. cervinus.

It would fit well for spore colour, size and that translucent striate margin.
Cool find btw.
I think you're probably right with Simocybe, the spores are definately brown and "bean-shaped" enough. I think it fits better than Psathyrella as well. Thanks for the suggestion.

Pics from 2 days ago and hopefully some more later on this weekend to come:
Firstly... OMG my first INOCYBE!!!! I had imagined my first time would be better, more glamorous. When I picked this up in the field I almost tossed it because it was so small and beat up (was very difficult to get decent pictures of this thing). And of course I didn't recognize what it was until I got home because I can't ID Inocybes for crap, but maybe that will change now that I actually found one of my very own!
1. Inocybe, probably I. geophylla:
(the rest of the scope images I'll post in bloodworm's thread)
2. Ganoderma I guess? The grass wasn't growing out of them, but these things apparently grew so fast that they grew around the grass! (from the first pic you can't see the grass stems because they tore off when I picked the mushroom) and they were really soft and had a very very strong odor.

3. A vary boring Polyporus varius:

4. Tremella, maybe Tremella fuciformis? I don't know that we have any other "white" lobey Tremella's here? but it looks a little cloudier than I would think it should, and the orange base doesn't seam right, but maybe that's close enough. Anyone know why it's called "fuciformis??" I can't find anything that would look "fuciform" about it?

5. Lycoperdon, I haven't really looked into why I wouldn't be able to call this L. perlatum yet:
as you can see with this last blury mess of the gleba, as it gets hotter, the pictures are really going to start suffering. It gets less and less motivating to try to hold perfectly still or hunch over to get that perfect shot when its 90 degrees out.
6. Xylaria, maybe Xylaria polymorpha, no idea really, but I am saving these babies for the mushrooms that look like thread if anyone ever starts one:

Thanks for looking!

I knew it wouldn't be long till you found an Inocybe. It's not in the best shape, but still probably felt really good. Now I'm all stoked for ya
