Pan? Abraxas? Who knows.
Satan means "The Accuser." He originally existed to find problems with God's creation. I don't think "Satan" is the same thing as the maligned, horned goat-god with which he's been conflated.
yeah im thinkn hades would be more accurate. greek myth predates christian. or maybe even Ra or horus since egyptian predates greek myth. almost all of them have a dark deity.

Hades, yeah, I should have thought of that.
I do think the syncretism is interesting. How does Hades, god of the dead, get tangled up with Abraxas the oversoul and Satan the nitpicker? I'll never understand this shit.

In hebrew texts satans job was to test the humans faith in their lord and report back to him. I don't remember his name in the bible but the poor fuck who's children god killed, gave him boils and made him suffer to the up most and kept his faith? Satans job was to come up with shit like that, to distract the humans and prove that they didn't have faith. But this isn't the satan I want to know about.
I remember reading a name like einki or something similiar having to do with the original lucifer/satan.

well im no expert but from reading odyssey about 3 times i come to the conclusion that the only sure thing about the deities in greek myth is that there is no order to it. the information was all passed down by hearsay.
being it was so damn long ago. so you have theories piled on theories onto theories. basically how the bible was written.

Job. I always was under the impression Satan was just there to mess with people having a good time (God having some dork worship him, that dork having a good life for no better reason than worshiping an invisible sky demon).
Never heard anything about Einki, but I'm no expert.

Also when its 2 AM on a wednesday morning when you have stuff to do from 7-4...and really is there such a thing as a bad night on the Shroomery? This place never fails to elicit unmanly giggles from me.

If you don't believe in God, why in God's name would you believe in Satan

Satan and God are just words that have many different meanings, both literal and symbolic.

I don't believe in God as in the biblical sense. I was curious about the "benefits" of satanism. If satan rewarded you supposedly or not. I do believe there are greater forces out there, what they are I have no fucking idea, I'm sure very few people do. I want to know also the original name of "the beast" and the original description.

i like the principles in the sense of promoting self reliance but anyway from i have collected , satanism does have some parallels with paganism in the sense of "self divinity" and ,at least from the above source, Antons type of satanism isn't actually about worshiping satan. satan is more of a figure head because of his role as "the original rebel" in questioning and going against god. its all more about seeing yourself as a divine presence and acting accordingly. also Levey was adamant about avoiding drug use as it "sullied your divine self" as it were. again just my opinions and i may be completely wrong but thats what i have gleamed from it.
also as a side note i fucking love electric wizard and liz Buckingham (the guitarist gal) also i seem to remember a story about the band mayhem in which one of the band members took the brain matter of the one who ate buckshot and made a stew with it , could be wrong though.
