 Please help me! Remeron - interaction with recreational drug use

I have been diagnosed with depression and opiate addiction. I know the 2 go hand in hand and that long term opiate use can cause depression in people for no apparent reason.
I recently got very depressed and had thoughts of suicide so I have decided to seek medical help with a psychiatrist, even tho I for the most part HATE doctors.
Being completely honest to my psychiatrist about my drug use and what not she say prescribed me remeron (mirtazapine) to take at bed time for my depression. But my psychiatrist was very opinionated about how evil methadone clinics are and she told me that taking 80mgs of methadone every day might make the remeron not work.
I need some answers about Remeron (mirtazapine) please! I know psychiatrist are full of shit but from doing my own research on remeron I want this antidepressant to work because it looks like a really good one. I occasionally (1-4 times a week) smoke cannabis. I occasionally (once every other weekend drink alcohol). I use xanax 2-4mgs (about 4 times a week) for recreation/anxiety. And I take 80mgs of methadone once a day from my regular methadone clinic. I have been taking methadone for about 4 months now.
My psychiatrist said if I use any recreational drugs, alcohol cannabis xanax, that I might as well flush my remeron down the toilet because recreational drugs make antidepressants not work. How true is this?
Since I have started taking remeron I have stopped drinking alcohol, stopped smoking weed, and reduced my xanax.
Will remeron not work if I take 80mgs of methadone once a day? (it doesn't get me high it just makes me functional)
Will remeron not work if I occasionally smoke weed?
Will remeron not work if I occasionally take xanax?
I mean some psychiatrist prescribe remeron along with xanax and some times they prescribe it along with adderall. (this is what I read online) so is it ok to still occasionally take xanax and occasionally take adderall when I have to study or stay up?
Please help!

I drink on remeron, which is bad because they are both processed by your liver.
Smoking weed doesn't effect me personally, but you are not me.
I haven't taken any psychedelics since being on it, and if I were to plan on it I would stop taking the remeron a few days prior.
I have taken opiates on remeron, that were prescribed due to an arm injury. Pharmacist said I would be alright, but it was only a 5mg oxycodone does four times a day.

If you really want a hand up on your depression, stop the xanax NOW, eat healthier(salad doesn't mean healthy, nor is junk food unhealthy), sleep more(lack of sleep increases depressed thoughts), get at least a half hour of direct sunlight a day and meditation(seriously).
You have to ask yourself why you feel the way you do. Cause and effect. You can't just mask it with Big Pharma's solution.
Also if you're like me, you probably burn thru vitamin D instantaneously. This is bad. Increase the milk and fish(catfish is best) intake as well as sunlight.
To find a solution, you must first diagnose the problem. To diagnose a problem you must first understand a system and its proper purpose and functionality.
If you want a "scientific" reason why all of these help, feel free to ask.

I took remeron 45mg, for about a year and a half. Didn't notice any effects with weed or alcohol, but I didn't use either much. Be careful with drinking because, as Jim said, it can affect your liver. In fact that was why my shrink took me off of it, I had elevated live enzymes.
You might want to look into iboga as a treatment for addiction and depression. There have been some amazing results. I'm trying to get my mom to try it for alcoholism.

I am only on 30mg remeron. We are trying to keep that as my baseline for medications. It helps my GAD and so far, has prevented a MDD recurrence.
I considered iboga for my heroin addiction, but I couldn't wait long enough for mailorder. I sought inpatient treatment for that. Even to this day I crave it. Ill drink some kratom if I really want to feel the itches and nod. My favorite part of that experience is I always puke a few hours into it. That is a good reminder.

Smoking MHRB is supposed to help and actually be your crutch to quit. Plus it's completely organic. I'm no hippie but its better than synthetics

N.FL.Shaman, why are you saying im burning through vitamin D?
I have decided to stop taking all benzos until I get this depression under hand.
Currently on 30mgs of remeron at bedtime, Im going to ask my psychiatrist about adding effexor or upping my remeron dose to 45mgs or adding something like seroquel or abilify.
I have undergone iboga treatment before for those who mentioned it. Quite the experience and it has helped me but for whatever reason be it I returned to using opiates.
im not going to be doing any recreational drug use at all for the next month just follow my doctors orders. I wont even been munching on my mushrooms for quite a while

I have a fast metabolism that never slowed down as I got older. I burn thru my vitamin D at rapid rates. Plus your body naturally metabolizes any "extra" so you can't really store too much. After 20 mins of direct sunlight you burn it almost as quickly as you get it. You can eat foods or take a vitamin D supplement. Ask your psyc to test your blood before upping any doses. Check iron, vitamin D, etc. Just to double check.
Remember your mind and thoughts control your actions so the battle truly starts there. Chemical or vitamin deficiencies create imbalance which makes it harder to keep a "positive mind state" at times. That's when I like to sit in the sun and write music or just "meditate". Don't think Buddhism meditation humming and shit. Merely being conscious of purposely thinking about positive thoughts, ideas, and actions. You will find these thoughts will form the foundation for future events.
Learn to know and love yourself and you will realize you truly can do "anything you set your mind to."
Another note about the mind and how it works is that "there is NO level of difficulty" on anything. Only a preconceived notion of a difficulty level, which is based in...? You guessed it! Your mind.
Start there with positive thoughts but check and keep vitamin levels sufficient for "optimal" mood conditions. (For a vague example, look what happens to a plant with high or low PH or nutrient levels) It takes 21 days to make or break most habits. Even if you have to force yourself to be positive eventually it will lead to subconscious positivity and a life change/mind shift. You can do it brother. Have faith. IN YOURSELF!

did you up your dose, im thinking about upping my dose - im also on cymbalta.
would it be safe to cut the red 30mg pill in half and start taking it everyday with a seperate 30mg pill, so in total 45 mg?
or should i cut an extra half every other day for awhile or what? and is your remeron red by anychance.
