Quite a lot of large capped n very tall meanies above 400m or so. And a few patches of noticeably "dwarf" specimens... barely as tall as they are wide, stain faster than a teenager's sheets and a lot of deformed caps. Found in exposed and protected possies, moderate elevation, wind-swept and calm... a few of em in these pics.

Overall a lovely week for walking about. Probably pulled about 200g fresh in the last few days, with minimal effort (thanks, cows! ). I know that's floor sweepings for you cultivators or retail pickers out there but definitely enough to keep me amused until next season. Or the one after that... or the one after that...
Full water tanks too... ah, I love when we get into autumn!
Safe travelling, fellas. And fella-ettes! Q

Ta, Olive. We go for a half hour walk every arvo, season or not... can always find something to check out, animals, plants, bush tucker, fungi, minerals, fossils, etc. Bit of fishing. But my fill of pans for the taking has taken a bit of getting used to... kind of miss having to leap fences at sunset and keep one eye on the car but there are worse gigs around! Probably too old for shenanigans like that anyway
Hope your headache has sorted itself out Brissie.. it'll do that to ya!
Locky, ta also. I worry about boring everyone with pics of mushies in poo but what can I say... I love the smell of mushroom in the morning
Must be a bit more southern than I am... lucky to have a northern ridge to pick from, and a couple other spots. For every hundred metres up, and every dozen degrees of slope to the north, plants n fungi think they're much further north, latitude-wise... say, Bundy, or so.
Will be brass monkeys and frozen pipes in a couple months though so I like to get em while the getting's good! Always leave mega-acres unpicked for everyone else, long as I have a full jar into winter, happy enough. Don't need kilos!
Get a few city boy pickers over the fence just before Earthfreq most years lately but I haven't the heart to growl at em, they're not hurting anyone. They clear out fast before us beardy, flannel wearing mountain types can kill n eat em, or get all Deliverance about things

Hahaha beardy mountain types. I like your style Q and definitely not boring anyone with pics! Keep them coming as long as they're out. Mate some nice finds too. Personally haven't found a meanie all season so just a little jealous!

Nooby noob here.
This is cube season we're talking about right? I'm not in SE QLD but I will be within 2 months or so. Do the cubes grow only in cow paddocks, or are they likely to be found elsewhere?

Is there really a need for continually bumping an 11 month old thread with posts about the weather?
The last mushroom posted in this thread was close to 6 months ago.

arent you from Melbourne and this is a SE Queensland thread? yes that is because the season here is just starting again and the weather is warming up and the rains are coming out. For SE Queensland there hasnt been rain in over 3 months
so it was just an indication to go out and hunt soon and then this thread will be buzzing with pictures and id requests
